Is it OK that I've put Mine Hole over the water?
I thought it is impossible.

I'm under impression that water below should block minehole. Maybe devs somehow messed things up with "Mine Jesus" update that implemented the cave elevator? The changed/optimized something and it has this bug/oversight?

I don't see a reason why it shouldn't happen. But maybe it is a bit impractical.

I feel like mineholes in previous worlds created a large square patch of ground when they would otherwise spawn directly in water

One of main minehole went down near river... no way to pali it becayse of that - also not cool.
