WHO also states that the virus is not airborne.
I guess the virus is spreading by magic then. Not airborne, not spread by surfaces and too few people interact closely enough to explain the rates of transmission.
About the only thing WHO claims spreads the virus is large particles which travel less than 2m.
Seriously who is silly enough to get sneezed on lol.

Re: Coronavirus
science isn't guessing anything
I can see from many of your posts in this thread that it is plainly clear that you simply don't understand what airborne actually means.
The CDC, WHO and all major information hubs right now explain it in verrry simply terms.
droplets
droplets are, in fact, ariborne, they literally travel through the air
when you get within a meter or so of somebody you risk coming in to contact with droplets released from their mouth and nose.
Everybody releases droplets from the humidity of their mouth and nose that carry infectious disease and can do so by simply talking.
If these droplets land on your eyes or are breathed in by your mouth or nose you can become infected.
This is why masks are important.
This seems to be the main concept you are unable to grasp and it's written just about everywhere there is information about covid so I'm not sure how you manged to miss it. I think it's getting more and more obvious to everybody that you are either not actually interested in any information outside your own opinion or you are just trolling. Very strange either way.

Re: Coronavirus
Seems like the WHO doesn't know what's going on. Underfunded and clueless. We are in safe hands.
Thinking yet or still drinking bad water?
Edit: You obviously did not read the WHO definition of airborne. And why did you remove your inane comment about surface transmission pathways? Do I have to quote everything you say to counter you doctoring your posts. It's better to just ignore you...

Re: Coronavirus
Transmission through surfaces (smear infection) had been ruled out by Dr. Streek in the Heisberg study, while they were able to detect the virus on surfaces (like door knobs) they were unable to grow what they polled off. Hence no way to infect yourself that way, you can breath normally again.Jalpha wrote:It is spread mainly by surface contact. People sneeze or cough onto surfaces and then you touch them.

Doorhandles are my greatest fear.
Only in case there is someone who is spreading pathogens. Meeting someone doing that is, according to the numbers reported for the area I live in, less likely than to be slain by lightning twice.Zentetsuken wrote:... masks are important.

only cherrypicks info from reputable sources or misquotes them when it suits him
ofcourse, this makes total sense, but for areas with growing cases like Ausrtalia and US it's definitely in everybody's best interest to wear masks in any public areas where other people are hanging out. And honestly, wearing a mask is such a simple and easy thing to do, it wouldn't hurt anybody to wear them even in a city with mild cases and spread if it helps them feel saferAtoB wrote:Only in case there is someone who is spreading pathogens. Interesting. This whole fiasco really drives home the prevalence of the replication crises. I can't even find definitive answers on how it is supposedly spread. A part of me wonders if all the chemicals that everyone and everything is getting doused in are a part of the problem.
I'm kindof past caring and just wish people would stop being stupid and arguing about everything. This situation has brought out the worst in a lot of people.

maybe your laptop has a virus, it's the only logical explanation for all this

Re: Coronavirus
From some random health website that was the top listing of Google when searching for "airborne disease":
The CDC said 'not an airborne virus' back in January or February... like most everything in science that wasn't proven fact*... It's just a theory. It could be wrong. TBH, the scientific method is grade school level science... that so many people in this world graduate college and still not understand it just amazes me. Not to change subjects, but the theory of evolution is just that--a theory that is founded in rigorous logic. It could damn well be wrong and The Holy Bible be the absolute truth... but there's not logical reasoning there, just stories handed down over generations, so we can't accept it... Everyone took Newton to be "the law" on gravity... yet he was absolutely wrong, and it took almost 300 years to prove it. (Took that long to further develop the math to explain general relativity, I guess?) Everyone thought the Earth was flat (except some Ancient Greeks, a handful of "heretics," etc etc etc) until it became accepted that it wasn't.
*I've been accused by many of not being "precise enough" in my manner of speaking and writing. I'm just used to discussions with egg-head scientists and logicians where it's easy to just pass over bits and pieces for efficiency in communicating. Everything a person states is a working theory, postulate, or otherwise "your opinion" unless it has been proven otherwise. When you communicate with your peers this way frequently, it's easy to forget to communicate with others outside your circle... and then again, maybe they just got stuck in their own hubris and spoke too quickly out of authority.
I'm not sure if that's a medical definition or not, and not going to dig to find out specifics. I can say that there are two types of airborne diseases, whether virus or other--those that can survive 'dry' and those that require moisture. The former, dry, means that even if the vector that spread them, a cough or sneeze, even talking, the disease-causing agent continues to live. Wet viruses, sars-cov-type II being one, require moisture to survive. They'll linger in the air for at least several minutes even in the driest of environments. They can linger in the air for hours in very humid environments. I think I saw upwards of six or eight hours on one study (the study I posted many pages ago).Airborne disease can spread when people with certain infections cough, sneeze, or talk, spewing nasal and throat secretions into the air. Some viruses or bacteria take flight and hang in the air or land on other people or surfaces.

Even trolls can contribute to the discussion and keep it lively. Just don't succumb to reacting stupidly to the trolls and keep it "professional & courteous."Zentetsuken wrote:you are just trolling.

Means you had best double check everything they present because if it doesn't meet the standards to make it into peer-reviewed journals, or if it doesn't meet the standards to get circulated by the larger news organizations, there are likely flaws in their methods. It doesn't make them wrong, just unverified. (then again, how many times has one major media service sent out a story to later be redacted only after everyone else picked up on it and parroted it for days?) If you're going to be skeptical of the "big guys" in news and, well, everywhere, then be even more skeptical of the little guys that are much more easily going to prey on those that not trust others easily. At least the big guys have the eyes of the world on them, and in a free society, anyone can speak out and present facts to prove them wrong.ARTE is a French/German highbrow TV-channel. Because of its small, elite viewership, it can allow itself to commission daring documentaries that would never see the light of day in media with broader audiences.

Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Yes, though the scale is much greater. I am still hopeful that good things will be done with the money. History indicates it is more likely a move to shackle the governments of the world in chains of debt.AtoB wrote:Corona looks more and more as another attempt on a swine flu type hoax ripoff:

I doubt much will change for the common people. I'm just bored of this chapter and wish we would move on to the next. I didn't expect this situation to ever be able to bother me but I feel worn down by it. I can only imagine how other people must be feeling. What an emotional kaleidoscope.
I guess I am reacting badly to having my freedoms taken away just like everybody else. People deal with it in different ways.
@MagicManICT
That was my understanding prior to reading the WHO definition. More and more the WHO is looking like a source of disinformation to me and not an entity to seek guidance from. This was why I did not engage this line of debate earlier. It's just semantics.
There are large particles and small particles. Small airborne particles are unlikely to sustain the virus for as long as they are airborne. Larger particles have generally been understood to be much more likely to harbor virus particles forlonger but they do not remain airborne for as long. This is why I am constantly saying social distancing is more important than masks.
Indoors there was one case study from China which showed transmission occurred through air moved by air conditioners. However it was only the tables in the direct path of the airflow who became infected. Nobody else in the resturaunt got sick. And only the two other tables who were eating at the time the infected person was dining. Nobody got sick from eating in the same area after the infected person had left.
It is easy to dismiss my opinions as trolling when you are in an emotional state and I am disagreeing with you. If you can try to see through my abrasive manner and broad statements though you will see there is a lot of truth to what I am saying.
New Zealand. Social distancing. There is no other way.
Everything else is prolonging the agony.
Laying flat.
