I think they can be either completely safe or have exposed trigger-tiles, it seems to be random and not taking account into trigger-tiles when generating the gallery.

What kind of scent does assembling a wrecking ball leave? Is it just a trespassing/rummaging scent, or is simply setting the ball vandalism?

1. I made a village over an abandoned place. No existing village, personal claims, anything.
2. There's an old minehole with an, until today, abandoned village banner
3. To be clear, my village takes up everything on the overworld
4. Now the village banner has authority? I can't access the minehole or interact with anything down there even if I trespass.
5. This banner is not connected to any village. There is no other banner for any distance in the mine. There is no village above it except for mine.

Is this a bug? How can this banner be a village if there is no village idol or other village structures.

Also, how do I break an active banner?

There were some methods to give authority to village banners that belong to a destroyed village, but afaik none of them work anymore. More likely somebody abandoned their village, the connecting flags decayed/were destroyed, and then they returned recently.

Either way, a wrecking ball or battering ram should do the trick.

Update: lone underground village banner no long has authority after changing nothing. Bashing it just to be sure
