lol this over the shoulder co-op action rpg with linear progression is basically a long-form infinite grind perma-death PVP click to move mmo because you can dig dirt in both of them, or something

A true apex predator migrates after their prey. Shouldn't you be working out a way to hack into their co-ops instead of listlessly trying to lure your prey to you?

Most of those things you listed are inconsequential to either game's core gameplay. No one chooses to play a game because it's over the shoulder or click-to-move. If you want to build a settlement, progress technologically, while starting from nothing in a untouched forest, both games are for you. That's why survival mechanics are being compared, not shit like graphics or movement systems.

Are you trying to imply you're an apex predator because of your depressing transient lifestyle

Yeah, but i'd say Haven is aimed at the niche of people that like some tedium, with Valheim i'm fairly sure they're going to nerf repairs at some point though but they'll up durability of tools when they do i'm sure.

Valheim is a good PVE survival crafting game though, very Terraria-esque in it's progression system. Can't wait for more updates but I need more good survival games like it, Wurm set a bar for it's time that made me Meh when I saw other crafting games come out, Life is Feudal felt bland in comparison for example. And while I don't like Sheep now because he's probably Gary, it's true that they're going downhill with Wurm too especially after cutting support for WU because they brought WO to steam.

Is that why every new world dies out faster than the previous?

Tedium is fine. Just look at Runescape. The problem is when the tedium becomes archiach and unintuitive like HnH since like world 5.

Haven used to be a pretty simple and easy to get into game. A sandbox. I remember some blurb from Jorb/Loftar calling it a social experiment. Now it's riddled with features and themes that make no sense from an outsider's perspective and has an art style that makes you wonder if you're looking at a bear or a giant pile of manure.

New worlds used to be full of new players coming from other gaming communities because the game looked interesting and had great, intuitive features. Now it just looks embarrassing and is like riding a unicycle with no pedals.

tossing these 2 links here, neither look particularly like haven, but they seem to both share some minor similarities, but that is besides the point

they both look badass and are worth checking out, it's been a long time since I've seen something worth my backing on kickstarter

It's not an mmo (10 player co-op) and I don't expect it to ever be, but it's a game Haven players would like. The base building gives me a lot of Haven vibes. It gives me hope for the genre because a lot of the mechanics are streamlined without taking away from their core functions and the art style is light-weight without looking horrible. Games like Haven suck when it comes to new player acquisition and it has gotten progressively worse since I began in W2, but I'm hoping devs(not necessarily Job/Loftar, but all devs interested in creating a survival game) take Valheim as inspiration for something that can be both streamlined and deep.

Once my friends and I are done with the game, I plan on using it as a way to get them to try Haven too.

Thx mate for this - Valheim is really great. I love this game. Many mechanics are similar with heaven and yet is more to come :)
