Re: Logging out while lifting destroyable object
The main problem seems to be that it can happen even when there is enough space. The screenshot in the OP shows this, there seems to be enough free space in the cabin to place a cupboard, but it got destroyed anyway.

Just drop it outside of the house not in top of anything though, if there is no space in the house?

Re: Logging out while lifting destroyable object
wonder why not making it exclusive to containers, maybe theres more exploits there

Maybe the character shouldn't be able to get there in the first place? Not knowing how H&H works, I can only suggest smth like switching or combining bounding boxes.loftar wrote:It's not exactly a bug, it's just less than obvious what the alternative would be.

Don't do anything? Just leave the character perma-loaded and holding the item in the world if they're lifting something. Don't need a fancy placement function then. Can't see a particularly useful exploit.loftar wrote:It's not exactly a bug, it's just less than obvious what the alternative would be.beefy wrote:just lost my wheelbarrow because of this bug ...

Wouldn't really help, since you could always get to your hearth by fast-travel.Agrik wrote:Maybe the character shouldn't be able to get there in the first place? Not knowing how H&H works, I can only suggest smth like switching or combining bounding boxes.
Sounds like a surefire way to get reports from people who are stuck and can neither get away nor drop the object nor log out.Cairon wrote:Don't do anything? Go back to lenient method and prevent CB stacking with this simple trick?loftar wrote:It should be noted that this always was the historical behavior. It was changed at some point to be more lenient, and was, of course, immediately exploited. Thus, we cannot have nice things.Ardennesss wrote:IIRC this was the bandaid fix to prevent things like cupboard stacking. Sounds like the fix does more damage than the exploit, and should probably be reevaluated.
If anything, I should probably consider implementing a less stochastic placement algorithm, but that is not exactly trivial.
Apply the same thing to every container, of courseEasy fix: you can't open cupboard if it's hitbox overlaps with another hitbox, but it can be lifted. This way stacked CBs can't be used as quantum storage but accidentally/properly (when abandoned building has decayed) stacked cupboards can be salvaged.

Re: Logging out while lifting destroyable object
While holding an object that wouldn't fit at the target location (at the place of hearthfire)? I don't see why one should be able to keep the object in such case. If there is no place for the held object, then you teleport without it. With some notification like this: "Attention! Target location doesn't have enough space for the object you hold, so you can't take it with you, the object will be left at your current location if you proceed."loftar wrote:Wouldn't really help, since you could always get to your hearth by fast-travel.
Or I didn't get it right how travelling to HF is related to the problem.
