Sometimes I wonder,

Post by Destati »

is my character really so incompetent that she needs to stand in front of a trapped boar, holding a bow back for 2 minutes to have even a 50% change of hitting the thing?

This game is REALISTIC

BUT I CAN'T STOP PLAYING

Higher marksmanship skill = faster aiming, along with sling q.

Also higher perception.

Actually, a bow is much harder to use than a sling. I stick to a sling for my characters until they have marksman skill 50 or so, because until around that level I find the sling superior. Bows may do more damage but aiming them is much harder.

Have you ever tried using a bow and arrow in real life?

Furthermore have you ever tried HITTING something with?

If this game was realistic you'd need 50 marksmanship to even be able to hit it 20% of the time.

From what I hear using a sling until at least Marksmanship 100 or so is preferred, I still use a sling at around 70 Marksmanship, works nicely. Until I can score me a ranger's bow of decent quality.

You guys are missing the point

The boar is one foot in front of me. I'm litterally in point-blank view of it. My bow is already drawn back. Everything's perfect, but now I need to wait 2 minutes to charge up so I can have a 50% chance of hitting it.

I'm not talking about stats. I'm talking about common sense

I have, it's quite easy actually. Besides the point though, the OP is concerned about the lack of realism in his aim time, when he should be more concerned about how his flimsy pile of stick is keeping the 500lb wild boar back.

Side note, never tried to hit a fast moving target with a hunting bow, I imagine it's significantly more difficult.

The arm strength required to actually pierce a boar's hide is enough of a problem, the tension to keep the arrow straight enough to hit, the wood quality necessary to make a bow that won't crack under the tension, the precision of your aiming.

Shooting even a still boar would be hard letalone a moving one, so heh.

A sling on the other hand, nowhere near as hard.

Also not easy? Holding a bow string taught for two minutes.

I am MM 100 and I prefer the sling. My DPS dropped signifigantly when i switched to bow and arrow. Although I have a Q130 sling so that does help things. Still, a Q90 bow with Q87 bone arrows should do something. Its far easier to solo a level 10 bear with the faster aiming speed of a sling.
