Stuck in Character Creation Room

The first thing I noticed was that the pool of water where you change your appearance did not work. I could walk in it but the selection menu never came up. I gave up and went ahead and chose a name, and then discovered I can't burn in the fire. The wizard definitely got my name.

I gave up on the character and just generated a new one. He also couldn't get the appearance selection menu to come up and can't burn in the fire to enter the game.

I certainly know you're not a new player, but I don't know what else to suggest: You know you're supposed to right-click the pond and the fire, rather than just walking into them, right? It just sounds like that what you were doing from the way your phrased that.
