I cannot think of game developers more deserving than the DF guys.

Re: Bay 12 hit success after 20 years
I donated to them once years and years ago, was happy to throw $40 at them for the steam release. But a friend beat me to it and gifted me a copy for Christmas, d'awww.
The graphical interface makes it feel like I'm learning an entirely new game. Lots of work to be done on it still, but it's kind of nuts seeing dwarf fortress for SALE on a storefront. I'm so eager to try out adventure mode when it's re-added. So many hours of enjoyment from wandering the world, recruiting cannon fodder, smashing the teeth out of random wildlife. Lots of fun reading other people's adventure mode exploits, too.
Drew a pic of a dwarf using an alligator as a weapon against an alligator for a 4chan thread once, wish i could find it

Hell yeah, Dwarf Fortress is great.
Never could get into it though. I consider myself very tolerant of low graphics in games, but ASCII was a bit too much. I'm glad the Steam version exists.

Very happy for them. DF is a wonderful game, and they've been at it for quite some time. You love to see it!

It's so great that a progressive company like Bay12 has finally made it big. Year and years of development effort from genuinely good people.
They are such a supportive and community-forward company, always listening to feedback and engaging with their players.
Including LGBTQ+ options in their game years ago? Amazing. Unbelievable.
Not actively supporting anti-progressive and hateful messages on their public platforms? How do they do it?
Not oppressing positive free-speech? Real pioneers and role models in the industry.
They deserve it.
