This is the inherent problem behind perma death. People that die, quit. It is a design feature. And it drives the motivation of how people play. Ie avoid conflict and avoid other players.
Only for groups of people that all play with multiple characters, this isn't such a big deal.

we were also robbed, metal and leather were stolen, but our boss took advantage of his connections, we took revenge, so don’t despair, turn to the kings for help, try to punish the criminals

moved far from start, plopped claim on a small island, home, lock...raided thrice already and someone even picked the lock.

i know the game at start is about finding a good spot to hide in, it's just that it feel retard that you have no other means to protect yourself and for the first 3-4 months of play, the server is just free game for large groups and no way to be played if not far away in a cave without ppl in sight, defeating the purpose of playing an mmo.
I'm already tired of this iteration, i come back every server and find myself without purpose so fast... bit sad

Common misplay is living next to water. No wonder you got bullied.
Find grassland and settle far enough so you wont be seen from water.
You don't have to leave marks since you can just build everything on grass.

don't you believe that is the same as settling in cave to be safe? why play an mmo in wich you need to be recluse to play? it does not even make sense, especially because no matter what, there's no true defense, just a chance at mitigating... i saw multiple raided deeds in my area even underground.

I made friends in the area i am, raiders comes from many maps far, and i'm not debating on that, i'm debating the fact that there's no way to be safe in game because the limitations of the game itself and its mechanics. No doubt this will be again a world with 4 months of hyperactivity and then decay for the other 8 months until new server.

Be me spawn in see 20+ others decide to walk in other direction for 5h or so. Next day I look at the w15 map and realise I walked from an empty zone to the most populated area  still palisade is up and no trouble from the people near, they even have a chat and we help each other out all is well for now.
I fully look forward to jorb and loftar fixing several mechanics and bringing back updates, because at that time you chuckleheads are going to be more marginalized than lawn furniture in winter.

You don't have to be a recluse to play. You don't even have to build any permanent structures or claim any land. But if you do, you either have to be able to defend it, get protection from others, or put it somewhere it won't be vulnerable. Once you've done that, you don't have to stay there, and the game has many mechanics to encourage travelling, if you're not motivated to do so just to trade and interact with others.

most of your comment is just coping, while the game remains as usual for the last decade, inviting players leave it instead of playing it, or be casual for some days before leving.
bad mechanics are just bad: locks have no meaning, it's too easy to raise just stealth and the best lock you can do early days is 10ql; can get rage from day 1 but there's really no defense against that since there's nothing in the game that prevents beign attacked; can claim ground but stealing and bashing everything is so easy that claiming have almost no meaning. How this encourages players to stay you saw in older worlds: it does not, and everytime i keep seeing comments like this, like we did not had multiple instances on how this is bad... loosks like ppl speaking good about communism: but that was not true communism! next time will work!

You say that as if refusing to cope is somehow better... If you don't want to cope, it's not a good idea to do anything challenging. But then you can't improve...

What's the opposite of coping? Griping? There are things in game that can protect you from being attacked. The most obvious is not being there in the first place, and if you can't manage that there's many deterrents you can use, most famously a palisade built around your claim. If you don't have a wall around it, and thieves and raiders can find it and get to it, then yeah, your home is going to get invaded, and you're going to have more coping to do.

you say that as if coping is the only method of overcoming difficulties. cannot build a pally if you get constantly raided by the thieves you are making pally to defend yourself, even if game tried to, and failed, giving you meanings to defend you. As i said, it looks like people that likes things as they are and then whine when they do not work, never learned from mistakes, just coped and tried again the same way, because they cannot foresee another vision of things. Guess we'll have again a world that after few weeks will be new world when?

Btw, you said not live as a recluse, then point out all solutions that will make you a recluse: not beign there, move, find place far away. heard that countless times and you here telling them again with 100 posts in your count means nothing changed as i say.
