.......wat

Though battle axe does more damage and ignores armor (I think?), it's absolutely useless if you can't even break your opponent's defense. Not to mention you're severely gimping your own. You have to choose between increasing your defense (by putting points into unarmed), or increasing your attack (by putting points into melee). In addition to that, Dodge gives 1x your UA as defense, while Shield gives 1.25x your Melee as defense. That means somebody with 80 melee can defend just as well as someone with 100 unarmed, while the melee ALSO benefits from his melee skill's attack, while the unarmed has to buy melee and spend almost twice the LP. Without shield, dual-wielding would imaginably work the same way.

That having been said, explain how a dodge-based maneuver is viable for combat for the current system. (If they wanted to expand the current system, with dual-wielding, they could add parrying.)

What we need is a proper dual wielding system. A main hand and an offhand weapon. Your main hand does 100% damage, your offhand does 50%. It would enable certain moves but you wouldn't gain too much strength. It should be stronger than wielding a sword+shield (with losing defence) but not as strong as a battle-axe.

Make combat more class like, but dont force people in to a class, just make it so that you would have totaly diferent syles using two swords, sword and board, a two handed weapon, ( gief daggers for backstab  ) make archery work more like normal combat, give us more armor for diferent styles ( a strong warrior using a sword and shield would have normaly plate but should move slower, a fast warrior with two swords should have leather armor to be able to move fast) I just want to say: give combat more love :D
I loled in your general direction

It could be argued that any defense while holding a melee weapon should use the melee skill.

Edit:

Allowing different combat styles would be cool.

Daggers should really be in before anything else.

Daggers should be used instead of stone axes mainly for butchering/skinning. They should be able to be a 'speedy' way to take out animals too, obviously much weaker than any current weapon (about as much as a stone axe, maybe a little stronger).
