STEAL from body on claim w visitor debuff? Bug or feature?

I was knocked by arrows past my visitor gate which seems sort of normal, but afterward the attacker was able to just loot my body even though it was on a claim. Bug or feature?

I was at my dock close to my snekkja. I had just taken 6 logs from a cart and was sawing to boards to make barrels for salt water.

Saw someone on a horse walk on other side of dock Pali. They raw hided and then started to swim around our watermill to reach me. I was sort of flustered but felt safe near our Pali and failed to dismount quickly enough and he rawhided me again. I dismounted and ran to our visitor gate. I pressed my mouseover activate on the gate and it did not open. He approached gate and started shooting arrows at me. I didn't even turn my camera or think to move the jotun clams to block the arrows. I was on vc and not streaming, no one knew exactly my situation. I should have just tried right clicking the gate. I was trying to dodge his shots.

It's demoralizing to get knocked and robbed, extra demoralizing that it happened close to home and I could have prevented it if I got through the gate.

Kind of weird that someone can loot/steal from a corpse they just assaulted when they passed through visitor gate to steal. After this long of it obviously being a possible bug, it seems like it is intended that this is possible? I actually thought I was just going to get knocked and not looted because of how Visitor Gates work.

They did not take all of my stuff. Maybe ran out of time. I lost my t sacks, merchant robe, silk backpack, my x2 thanes and my decent surv/mc set.

should be the same as 16.1, despite jorb saying it is only for 16.1, the changes seem to have applied and have been working this whole world as before- a major security change if so because as far as i know the visitors debuff is absolute or supposed to be, not to mention the combat issue- they made it so if your in combat you should not be able to pass through gates- unless ofc the poster has auto peace on as he isnt dead in this picture, either way crime should not be even possible with the debuff

this has been a thing for years, supposedly has to do with the looting of player bodies being a different kind of permission. not sure if it qualifies as a bug or just a developer oversight, but I know for a fact that the gnomes would change that interaction if they ever fell victim to it

i found a previous thing, jesus 16 years later(edit-fuck i am blind 2022 post) still no fix despite it being theft to even do the action- wounder if it applies to dropped items as well?

1: You can shoot through visitor gates and KO/kill people and it's not a crime.
2: You can loot bodies with visitor debuff and it's not a crime.

Bug/bad game design, should be fixed but who knows. Sorry.

suffice to say, hearthlaw is still in effect here, dug into the debuff- only applies protection to objects in claim not individuals besides preventing combat from being initiated with debuff tho i argue theft is theft

Why did you not open or bash the gates? You said you tried opening the gate but it did not open? Is this really your claim? Why is the ground red?

I can only assume that if you have form of visitor debuff, your corpse doesn't get protected by visitor's? Idk.

Like i assume here that the claim isn't yours and you at best have permissions inside but if the pclaim isn't yours you still get vdebuffed.

Alternatively, i guess, players can claim their kills even if they are vdebuffed? idk.

I think it was world 15 or 16, snail snuck into someones place in whateverbay with a theft alt. 0 perms or anything and trespassed into a house where a body was, stealing all their loot.
There was some funky perms things (still is) where you can just enter a house as long as you don't enter thought 2 visitor gates (the first one is a free!)
