Hi everyone!
I wanted to start a discussion about current siege mechanics, specifically regarding the mobility of siege engines (catapults and rams) during multi-layered base assaults.
After spending the last two weekends sieging a large village with multiple walls (outer and inner palisades/brickwalls), it became very apparent that the current movement speeds - 4 tiles/hour for catapults and 7.5 tiles/hour for rams - make deep-base sieging an exhausting logistical bottleneck rather than an engaging tactical challenge.
The Problem:
The Repositioning Grind: Once you successfully breach an outer wall, you are forced to either spend 20+ hours straight moving your existing catapults/rams to the inner wall, or try to build entirely new ones right under the defender's nose.
Killed Momentum: Slow movement speeds kill the momentum of active weekend PvP and shift the focus from strategy to tedious timer-watching.
Proposed Adjustments:
Faster Relocation: Allow packed or repaired siege engines to be moved at a significantly higher speed when repositioning between internal layers.
Tuned Timers: Reduce the drying time after repairing/moving to around 30 minutes, and keep firing/ramming cooldowns balanced (e.g., around 1 hour).
Right now, breaking the first wall feels like an achievement, but the punishment of moving slow-moving pixels for a whole day just to reach the next layer feels outdated for endgame content.
Could loftar and jorb take a look at adjusting siege equipment mobility and pacing? What do other players think about current siege times? Let's discuss.

Re: Siege Equipment Mobility & Repositioning Speed
Nah, silly sieges of a weekend to ruin months of grinding. No, thank you.
Nobody got time to wake up at 4am on a monday to fight your silly "QUICK" siege
A lot of players within the PvP community tend to not understand me when it comes to my ideas for larger changes (these are typically posted n the forums for a few giggles), where I suggest a PvE change to ultimately increase later PvP.
My newest push to finally get jorb and loftar to add a PvE homestead server and then use thingwalls to teleport into the "wild hunt" or PvP realm to do progression, would also hopfully be meet with much more aggressive and nessary pvp changes, that being sieges COULD be more of a thing as the PvP realm would be expected to be a mad fighting realm, while those who wish to keep months of building and work would extract their goods back to their PvE homesteads. BUT I do want extractions to be limited to a single time of a week, say you put items into a chest or fire of your character that would extract items back to your PvE realm only on sundays. Allowing to hopfully have sieges to be a real thing that Siegers would break in and stop an extraction.
PvE items freely moved into the PvP realm
PvP items only extracted thought methods/caches on a single day to get items back to the PvE realm.

Bro, I'm not talking about waiting 24h to start siege, most talks about tile moving and speeding it up, cuz if u already inside, so it won't take ur 2 lives awaymaze wrote:Nah, silly sieges of a weekend to ruin months of grinding. No, thank you.

I guess ill go into more details...gud_war wrote:Bro, I'm not talking about waiting 24h to start siege, most talks about tile moving and speeding it up, cuz if u already inside, so it won't take ur 2 lives away
I get what you're saying, I'm saying in regards to you breaking an outer wall, 1 this idea would never work. If a village every claimed over a palisade or left over old palisade randomly on the claim, that wall is now a "outer wall" and suddenly youre full village must protect this single wall or using your shenanigans to drop a palisade for your mates in a far corner of a village because you somehow insided.
Just all this alone is hard to explain to a noob, really funny to me that this tends to be an augment point for the pvp crowd for "visitor gates", if a noob does not understand visitor gates we should not have them. Yet when it comes to a mechanic like sieges it's suddenly allowed and forced on for the noob to be a professional of defense, rant aside.
packing a siege engine, this makes no sense and sounds like a spam feast of possible exploits that an attacker can use by making dozens of near off claim siege equipment and moving it around fast paced to whatever wall they want avoiding defenders towers and siege equipment because you just had more time to put into your attack, forcing defenders to setup archer towers nonestop all around their base as you trolly move the siege engine non-stop to get a best out come and around their defense.
if we look at real life, old village always have an outer wall and inner walls (Castles of Wales FYI). Forcing attackers into unfavorable positions, defenders would stick spears and shot arrows out of slots while attackers were forced into a narrow alley to break thought a door. very often would outter doors be a drop down gate (warwick castle), while inner doors were much tougher typically to trap attackers in with the village or castle.
Your lucky currently that there no way for defenders to even defend with arrows other then shooting out of gates.

Re: Siege Equipment Mobility & Repositioning Speed
You are not supposed to siege a large village alone dude.
You put your own health at risk for what?
Your group has people from different time zones you are supposed to convince them to take a shift.
Everyone else should be in bed with notification sound turned up to the max.
