Pigment Desk

Post by Jhow »

Having to keep all pigment in separate barrels is a pain when you are doing sketches and need to grab a little bit of all or close to all colors separately. Perhaps implement a desk that can hold a good amount of pigment in it. Even if you have to stock the desk with clay jars or even add a new jar like painters/pigment jars. Just so when doing sketches you can click into the desk and if its stocked you can just paint the sketch you desire. Jars should be able to hold a lot of pigment or reduce the usage on sketches. Having a high storage I think would be fine when its exclusive to pigment only.

If you are making Easter eggs you can just pull out the highest quality pigment and craft manually for best results. Wouldn't hurt to have more uses for pigment as well, dyeing clothes, furniture or workstations (Just so you can make them out of different material but then change them to all be the same for aesthetic), more curiosities with pigment, etc

How is this different from using few cupboards filled with buckets of pigments?

+1, fine idea. we do have however proper glass jars for the job. a grid of 2x7 jars on top of a desk, showing level of fullness on each color separately would indeed look quite cool.

That does work but only having 10 kg of each color per cabinet seems low when someone is making a lot of sketches or mass producing Pigment Curios (Eggs, Accounts, etc). Main colors can go quick when trying to label things that you can't put in Display Signs. Its a niche idea but would be convenient when its used. It would be argued it might be required if they added the dyeing things request many people have or another use for pigment.

Using multiple cabinets is the same logic as having multiple barrels its doable would just be a convenient thing to be added to prevent multiple barrels or cabs.

This really sounds like a first world problem . .. same could be said about some special table for beverages symbel, spices in the kitchen, rocks for alchemy, ore. . and so and so.
Yet we do have granaries that were made literally for similar reason in farming, so why not? More stuff more better, especially to stop making houses a cupboard-storagerooms

Exactly, you get it. It's a quality of life thing and would just be nice.

No need for workstation unless they finally decide to add more than 15 colors. You can use cb with buckets for sketches and barrels for curio crafting.

Even if it would mostly be LARPy I support this. having painters studios would be nice, or having a caricaturists easel could be fun

More purpose built storage(like tables) wouldn't be bad, I wouldn't mind a table people could actually store dice and tafl boards on. Even just decorative tafl boards strewn across a table could be nice.
Maybe make it possible to put anything in the symbel items slot of a dining table(or anything in any slot even, so long as they aren't stacked), simply have the item provide no bonus. Could even make it possible to place duplicate items on tables, just give them a red highlight to show that their bonus isn't being applied
