I think you're reading into this too much. It's a game and different people play it, somebody might find enjoyment in stealing your stuff and destroying things - this is especially true in an open PvP game like Haven.2d0x wrote:I remember the beginning of the 10th world. in the beginning you're rushing to make that palisade and mine holes so any leather or dried hide is fair game lol.2d0x wrote:But to start all over again, time after time, is not fun.Aceb wrote:wlkk011 wrote:...Everyone have chance to play, it sucks to get smacked but it sucks even more to give up because of one or two accidents.
A typical example: I started a new character, built a house and a stone fence. The next day, someone broke part of the fence and my fire. What is the meaning of this act?

but i get what you're saying, world nine i got killed just because the dude that killed me was bored, i wasn't a treath to him, my claim was nowhere near his, and i didn't have anything of value. nevermind the number of times i got rekt back in legacy people stealing my pants, russians killing me for wearing fox hats, etc.

Not literally. I meant it in the sense that you're blowing things out of proportion by assuming that people need a reason to do scummy things in a sandbox game where one of the main elements is PvP. Your experience isn't really that alarming to be honest. Some people will do things like that just because the game allows them to. Why do they need to explain themselves if the game gives them the freedom to do so without abusing any bugs?2d0x wrote:Reading?! I describe my experience.
I think it's laughable to take a person's behavior in a video game and actually link it to them being the same in real life, which is what I assume you're pointing out.2d0x wrote:...and based on patterns of behavior, most of them have the inclinations of petty criminals. Cutting spruce caps is not PvP.Riou1231 wrote:...one of the main elements is PvP...
The game or real life, but the person adapts to the circumstances, and in a similar situation the same patterned behavior will be applied (this is more a statement of fact than a reproach).Riou1231 wrote:...I think it's laughable to take a person's behavior in a video game and actually link it to them being the same in real life, which is what I assume you're pointing out.

As I know, more than 10 already. And it's mid time, even not beginning anymore. New players getting smashed when they know nothing about the game, just for fun of bullying, same like in real world. This is very important, it's already very hard for new player to live in this world, deal with the animals and survival in the game, everything have to be find out by themselves, but they don't have anymore chance to experience it. There is some power they cannot against in this world.Burinn wrote:The number of people who quit the game because they're being """harassed""' by vets is probably under 10. All of the major players become very inactive after only like, six months. Get a grip.wlkk011 wrote:It is better to increase the red hand punishment, otherwise you can only leave group of robbers and some group veterans, newbies are constantly being ransacked and can't play. only in the late period of the world when most people abandon this world, newbies joint that time can have chance to play.
Not only newbies, we still have a lots peaceful veterans. Not every player's job is play the game. People have to study, have to work, have to take care of kids.... They (include me) only can play one hour or two hours per day, they can't and never will have a chance to fight back those players who play game as a job or the players with botter's support. These people never want to participate in hegemony, they just want to have a game, a good game to enjoy the relax time of a busy day. Are these people declined by this game world ?
i don't know what kind poeple you want in this game world.

Remember, this world round you can put a lock on the front door of your house while you're waiting to get your palisade set up. That ought to slow down any would-be thieves (for about two seconds. Buff locks please)

PVP is different from your PVP. PVP is a challenge to same level player and try to win a competition by better skills. But some ugly person only like the feeling of bullying the weak, they have no brave to face who have the same power as them. Are these ugly people who you like to meet in this game? Mostly poeple have no time to deal with those trouble. People are tired with troubles and quit, not game is boring, unlimited trouble is boring.Riou1231 wrote:I think you're reading into this too much. Actually, it is by definition. PvP means player vs player, spruce caps are players.2d0x wrote:Cutting spruce caps is not PvP.Riou1231 wrote:...one of the main elements is PvP...

Re: Prelude: World 11
The last time I checked, PvP means player vs. player - a spruce cap being curb stomped by a more experienced player still counts as so. This isn't a thing that's restricted to Haven. Even in other games with PvP like Rust, ARK, etc. there is always a chance that a new player will get into a one-sided fight with a better player.2d0x wrote:Cutting spruce caps is not PvP..
I think you're just being too scientific with this... most of the player-base are just autists in general.2d0x wrote:The game or real life, but the person adapts to the circumstances, and in a similar situation the same patterned behavior will be applied (this is more a statement of fact than a reproach).
I'm pretty sure PvP means player vs. player. I'm afraid you can't just change the definition of it to fit with what's convenient for you. A random asshole ruining a spruce cap's day is still PvP... this has always been a thing since World 1. I myself have had the privilege of being a noob and being fucked up the ass by a stronger player more than a couple of times. Shit happens. You either learn from the experience and become a better player, or you go to the forums to bawl your eyes out.wlkk011 wrote:PVP is different from your PVP. A player can always just move out to one of the further grids if they want to avoid trouble, either that or join a village. If they want to quit, then maybe Haven isn't the game for them and they need to find something else to fit their interests.
