Im sure Loftar is coding in Notepad++, and I won't blame he for that. True old school.MagicManICT wrote:Completely off-topic:
Something to be said about having a good development environment. It can help avoid a lot of these typo-type errors, but much like working with a word processor, it still won't catch user errors like entering wrong names (just mistyping them) or poor design principles.Dakkan wrote:I just loathe programming, despite it's wonderful advantages. Notepad++ and vim were the last things I used to program. Bad memories...Enjoyment wrote:Im sure Loftar is coding in Notepad++, and I won't blame he for that. True old school.MagicManICT wrote:Completely off-topic:

For the incompetent, who do not remember function names nor own the ability to properly use a keyboard. Heavy bloated IDE's may be used to partially fix some of those lacking traits.

To note, I believe loftar has stated he uses vi in Linux (forget which distro he uses to develop on, but it's around here somewhere).
If you can't remember your function names... probably have no business coding. If you can't remember some odd ass class function in something like the Windows API... that pull-down list and class browser in Visual Studio is great.shubla wrote:For the incompetent, who do not remember function names nor own the ability to properly use a keyboard. Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Sorry for the delay. I'm very happy that I had a safeguard against corrupted qualities, because due to an uninitialized variable, someone almost got an infinite-quality forest snail.
Emacs, in fact. Currently using Debian, but I have fairly fond memories of both RedHat and Gentoo.MagicManICT wrote:To note, I believe loftar has stated he uses vi in Linux (forget which distro he uses to develop on, but it's around here somewhere).
