I remember reading once that the randomly occuring "piano remix" versions of ingame music were caused by a loading bug of midi soundfonts or something. Since I seldom to never use ingame music (I still have nightmares about that pig...), I never got to post this before, until now. What if the midi playback module was setup to use different soundfonts from time to time? I find the piano version to be rather refreshing from the old-boring tunes that we've heard 9001 times before.
That, and a complete rework of the sound output module would be nice. But I presume that would take alot of coding effort... right?

But seriously, you could bring it in a somewhat nicer way right?

Srsly man, wtf are you talking about? Could a mod please remove all the posts from this thread except the OP? /sarcasm
I never said anything about kaka's music being bad, I just said it's gotten boring over the months of hearing it over and over. A bit more variety wouldn't be bad.

Re: Piano Remix
I don't like the sound of this...
Seriously, though; changing soundfonts (or if you meant changing instruments by changing soundfonts)
for variety seems like a bad idea to me.
Variety, on the other hand, is a good idea. I could probably write loads of different versions for each song,
as that is typically my problem when it comes to writing music - I always write lots of variations of a
song and can never decide which one to use.
However, when ambient sounds eventually make their way into Haven the music will probably change,
or possibly even be removed, so I don't want to waste my time doing that.
In the meantime, I will continue polishing the current versions. What you've heard so far is only a small part of it all.

Still waiting for that mining song, though!

Re: Piano Remix
Sounds like there's a lot coming, looking forward to it!
Still, to get back to my remix idea...
while you are probably right that pushing every song through different instruments/soundfonts might end up in a thousand (mostly ugly) clones of the same piece music, there is one thing that I want to point out:
Basically, what the Piano Remix bug does is play a differently-sounding version of the same tunes - we could say, it's the "Entering the House"-leitmotif, just with different instrumentalisation. However, if you were to simply do 4 completely differently sounding tracks for entering the house, it would ruin this effect, and sad panda would be sad. Maybe more variations of the same song would fit better than just a ton of different songs.

Re: Piano Remix
The music does get old after a while but when I'm on the verge of going insane if I hear one more note I just mute it and put my play list up. Problem solved but a remixed version would be something.
