My non-softcap health is not rising, mortal wounds for instance and more. Is there anyway to replace the bit of black bar which has taken up my screen? I have learned first aid but I have yet to learn how to heal myself.

Two methods:

1. Shear some wool from a sheep, turn it into gauze (needs a spinning wheel, iirc), then do the left-click gauze right-click self thing to apply it to yourself. You'll slowly get 10 HHP this way. Edit: The applied gauze takes up your headgear slot, so don't wear anything there when applying the gauze.

2. Walk into a swamp and gamble the leeches well help more than they hurt.

I'll use the gauze method seeing as I just got a new loom installed with some spare wool.

From my experience, bandages heal more than 10hp. I actually never observed one stop working, even when I kept the same one on and got injured repeatedly. Bug?

If they're non-perishable then fair play.

They work up until they turn into a bloody rag (or something like that). They last for a pretty long time, although leeches are way faster to heal up on.
