Stone walls (I know, I know...)

Post by Kipperdipper »

So, I know this has more then likely been suggested countless times, but every person that says it is another person, and then more likely to be considered.
I was thinking, we have wooden palisades and brick walls. how about stonewalls?

Between the strength of palisade and brick wall (as that makes sense, seeing as stone is stronger then wood but weaker in construction then brick),
the gate would require something like wrought iron, or at the very least cast iron (rather then steel)
maybe bone-glue for the corners too?

something like:

STARTING Corner-post:

500 stone (maybe more)
5 bone glue (seems reasonable)

Wall piece:

10, 15 or 20 stone

further corner-posts:

250 stone
2 bone glue

Gate:

350 stone
5 or 10 cast/wrought iron

I mean, the gates could be bronze, but I wouldn't think anything less then a full on bronze bar.

I mean, maybe even higher costs in stone? seeing as stone is so easy to get.
I know that palisades take 626 strength bare hand to destroy, so maybe a stone wall could be 750-800?
(or they could require a battering ram to destroy. but due to the ease of building, I think it'd best to be able to stone-wall bash)

If you already have wrought iron, why wouldn't you make a brickwall?

Because although I'm already in the process of making my brick-wall, I'm thinking of the newer players and also, the amount of time+effort its going to take to make this section of my brick wall. it'd be lovely to have a middle-ground of the walls rather then (what is relative to circumstance) weak palisade and strong brick-wall.

EDIT:
also, you need steel for the gate on a brick wall.
if you only needed 5 - 10 cast/wrought iron (or bronze, like I also said could be used, at the very end of my post) it'd be a lot easier for the lower skilled players, or players who cannot get any steel.

I'd suggest that the gate doens't need metal..

Hmmm. your probably right actually, saying as I'm saying it'd be for those who can't find the iron or steel for brick-walls.

Okay. It'd either have to take a LOT of wood (200?) or some other material. but I can't think of any non metal materials that would be good enough for the role, other then, wood.
I mean, you could have a stone door. but you don't see them in real life do you?

Make a wood gate and make it require shittons of wood and ropes.

As long as they reguire some form of metal, like bronze. Otherwise it would be a little strong, and not much of a choice between palisade and Stone.

Pretty sure this was already suggested before.

But uh.. if you've read any of my super old posts, you would know that I definitely would support more variety. Even if it holds no benefit. The more unique, the more appealing. More outfits. More walls, more.. whatever. Decorative things are a must. Stone walls would probably look pretty epic.

There has been another stone wall topic only a few days ago and while you are right that more people supporting a topic might raise the chance the devs paying attention, creating new threads everytime is not the answer. Just bump the old threads and add what you have to suggest. This here sounds more like a lame excuse to not use the search function.
