The Tradition/Change slider in personal beliefs obviously skewed right now. I honestly can't think of anyone that plays with full tradition. It just isn't every worth it in any case to gain LP at (roughly) 1/10 of the rate of a Full Change player. LP is a serious boon in this game, and continues to be throughout all stages of character development.
In addition, you can reasonably diminish or outright erase your chances of death in game through careful preparation.
I'm not sure I could get anyone behind nerfing Change but if we Remove LP Reduction aspect of the Tradition side it would go a long way towards making Tradition more tempting. Simply have your character stay at 100% LP gain as he moves down the tradition path. The fact you are forfeiting the increased LP gain of the change tree is 'punishment' enough.
I'm really interested in comments and criticism from other players, particularly anyone who actually does play a full tradition character. I think we can at least all agree that in general, the Tradition/Change slider is rather onesided at the moment.

Re: Tradition/Change Slider Retooling
tradition is traditionally (har har!) used before going on a murder spree, or going into a situation where you expect to die.

Yes, but you're looking at it wrong.
Tradition is to "keep the bloodline being carried on", not a "refund assessment plan for mass murderers".

I can understand the murder spree bit, but I don't see someone foreseeing their death so far in advance they have the time to fully shift the slider to the opposite end of the spectrum.bitza wrote:tradition is traditionally (har har!) used before going on a murder spree, or going into a situation where you expect to die.

Re: Tradition/Change Slider Retooling
I play full Change like anyone, but there seem to be real advantages to going Tradition..
CON: you gain LP at 1/9th the rate of full Change
PRO: you RETAIN 9 times more LP worth after you die (seems to cancel out the con)
PRO: you retain 9 times more STATS after you die. And full tradition doesn't impede stat GROWTH.
So in theory, Tradition seems better unless there's a threshold you really need to get to for your village's welfare..
..in practice, I'm going to keep going full Change.

Re: Tradition/Change Slider Retooling
It doesn't cancel it out really, because on one hand you have a chance to be a good player (change); on the other hand you might as well be that good player except now he's dead (tradition). Basically you're choosing to die before anyone actually killed you, you know what I mean?Tamalak wrote:I play full Change like anyone, but there seem to be real advantages to going Tradition..

Lets say you get to 100K LP (just for easy number) and then you die and retain very little LP. Another guy, who has 1/10th your gain, is at 10k LP already. So now you're both in the same range, except the tradition player always sucked and had no chance to do anything; while the change player actually played the game and died. That's how I see it, basically.

Re: Tradition/Change Slider Retooling
That's true. I guess you could say that tradition and change are equally powerful for LP at the beginning of your next character after a death, but change is more powerful thereafter. So that's 2 PROs and 2 CONs each..Krugz wrote: Lets say you get to 100K LP (just for easy number) and then you die and retain very little LP.
