New player. Griefed.

Hey all!
I've been playing H&H for just a couple days - enough to learn the basics, get a few thousand LPs down, make a lean-to, etc. And I must say that I'm hooked - this thing is addicting. Trying to get some friends online to play with me, which would be great!

However, today I was murdered - shot dead by an arrow. No explanation, no conversation, no nothing. Obviously there was no way for my to defend myself - even if I had had time to say anything.

I find it extremely discouraging that brand-new players can be murdered like this. Getting 5000 LPs may not be much to all of you, but when they're the only LPs you've ever earned, they sure as hell are.
It's unfortunate that there isn't some sort of safeguard for players who haven't gotten (even close to) established yet.

Here's hoping my next character's experience will be better.

As a fellow newbie, I can relate to unprovoked assaults. They're part of the game, though. This game simulates survival and all its struggle, including distrust and the danger of wandering alone -- a bear could have just as easily killed you as that person. I do not think that is griefing, but simply how the game is. Some people kill to see what you have on your inventory, because you were in their way, because you were an easy kill, or just because they're paranoid as hell. The Havian world is odd like that, where only the thick-skinned prosper, the people who can get back up after being repeatedly pushed down are the ones who last. Not even the person who killed you has not been killed, and had to start over. They brushed themselves off, and rebuilt.

From look of it though, it sounds like you're ready to patch your wounds and start over as well. It's hard striking it out alone, and I know this first-hand, though my experience is limited. If you can get a group of friends playing with you, I imagine it will be easier to survive.
