I've been travelling for miles and ages, played for a bit, and noticed I haven't found a single soul so far.
I have found 3 villages, lots of houses etc, but no players whatsoever.
I actually found 3 players (in the same spot), but they were sleeping, and they haven't moved at all in a week so I assume they stopped playing the game or something.
I am sure there are someone around, but I find it odd how I can't find anyone..
Is it usual for it to just take long to find your first human player, how long did it take for some of you to find someone going around?

Play times often vary. You generally see large spikes in activity at 5am -8:00 PST, 8am -8:00 PST, and 5pm -8:00 PST. In world 3 I hated how people would take a gander at my village and declare it inactive because everyone was either offline or off hunting/exploring. Freshly planted crops, growing trees, well fed cattle, and an active village claim are strong indicators that there are active players in the region. It just so happens that most people don't play for 24 hours a day so you'll need to leave them a message to get into contact with them.
Hearthlings sleeping in a bough bed in the middle of the woods doesn't mean a thing. Quite frankly newbies come and go. There are thousands of people who start a character, gather some bough, build a bed, and quit. They're irrelevant to establishing contact with those around you.
The real question you should be asking yourself is what you'll do when you do meet your neighbors. What if they're hostile? Are you going to give them a greetings gift? What if they give you one? What if they don't speak your language at all? No one ever considers the courtesies surrounding meeting neighbors or what happens if the interaction is a bad one.

I usually base activity based on the decay of their farm plots. An almost full farm plot means that they've played something within a day, and an empty farm plot means they've moved, or are inactive.

Took me a while too and then you can't help bumping into them. Try travelling on rivers, that's the best way.

Yeah it is pretty lucky. I would travel forever, not anyone in sight. I've never actualy even met a raider.

Also you're better off then my last alt that started inside a palisade of a supposedly active settlement (growing crops and trees). Been there for 3 days now and haven´t seen a soul that would let me out

Come on, this place is completely overpopulated. I liked the world No.2 insteda, you could travel for several hours and meet no-one... this is what i call the concept of Wilderness.

Different expectations, that's all. It's rather interesting to watch the dynamic change as the world changes and how the interactions evolve.Stefan wrote:Come on, this place is completely overpopulated.
