So far I have narrowed my list to this:
Grapes
Wheat
Beetroot
Carrots
Pea-pods
Tea
Flax/Hemp (Hemp could be on its own for its smoking befits while eating.)
Any others that are a good must have?

Peppercorn > hemp for FEPs. Problem is it takes tons of them.
Also, hops for beer (needs tin for a mug, though). Beer and wine are separate FEP events and beer will store in a barrel where wine won't.

Doesn't peppercorn stack with hemp anyways?

Yes, it does, but if I had to choose one or the other, it'd be peppercorns.bmjclark wrote:Doesn't peppercorn stack with hemp anyways?

why wouldn't you have at least a few tiles of every crop?

Yeah this seems like a stupid question. I've never used hops before in my life but that doesn't stop me from having a small (3x4) section in my farm that I constantly raise the quality of.
What circumstances are you under where you're unable to just have everything?

Ignore everything going on there, that was after a raid last world, but look at the farm plots

Keep at least one small plot of every crop (even ones you dont need a lot) and raise them, then if you one day want to make a lot of piro the 9 tiles of onion when harvested give the perfect amount of seeds to plant the larger plot, that way when ready to harvest you can use the seeds/product of all of the lower plot, and use the smaller plot to replant it all.
So you dont have to have the best plants to keep around, you just have some raising q (how could you not have time to harvest 9 tiles) and its always there and high q if you need to produce a fair bit.
Hopefully that answers your question even though it felt a little of topic
EDIT: Because I seen him viewing topic, I should add (unless he got it from somewhere else); Credit to the all glorious Mervin for crop design, for it enlightened the way to a simpler solution in gaining many pies <3

Heres whats going on and why I am asking. I am likely to be moving into a village (I hope) and I am asking this so I know what I should grow for my own use for the most part.
The village itself already has a farm.
