As a noob who never reads wiki beforehand when I learn a new skill or get a new object, I go looking though every sub menu to see if I learned any new ability. The game should just tell you what you've gained. Therefore, A small improvement when learning something new: When you gain an ability after learning a new skill or finding a new item, the game should explicitly tell you what ability you've learned. For example:
A player learns the skill Brawling, messages pop up saying
"You've learned the attack 'Knock his teeth out'!
You've learned the attack 'Strangle'!
You've learned the move 'Charge!'!
You've learned special move 'Sidestep'!", and theses messages would also output to the Messages tab.
Similarly, if a player finds acre clay after learning pottery, they get the message "You've leaned how to craft the curiosity 'Toy Chariot'!".

Yes, please or even highlight menus that have new options in them for the first time.
Also, let us see what we've discovered in list form.

I agree. Also, having to do with the UI, why does it go Build | Combat | Craft ? It seems Combat should be to either side, not in the middle. Little something that I won't waste a whole other thread with.

something I never really thought about but it would be greatly appreciated. I think just a note in message tab(so screen isn't cluttered) and hilights would be best but I usually go digging through my menu when I get a new skill/discovery to see whats new...this would be a time saver.

Re: "You've learned how to X!"(UI)
Just post it in the messages area just like other error messages. It's probably pretty easy to implement, but going to be a pain writing it all up. (That's a LOT of messages needing to be added in.)
So add another +1 to this idea.

Messages popping up would just piss me off imo, "Oh god gotta switch out my pickaxe for a sword because I'm under attack!" *Shift-Click it off for the first time instead of clicking it on and off* BAM. Pop-up saying "Hurr durr u knoe wat a pikax is now!" on my screen. Would get in the way but an option to turn them off or have it only appear in the chat menu would be nice.

+1, also highlight stats which went up after FEP bar filled and fired off stat gain.
PS: I am not trying to derail the thread, it seems as the same familly of imps of GUI.

Ya, that makes sense too. Basic UI tweaks would greatly improve function.erozaxx wrote:+1, also highlight stats which went up after FEP bar filled and fired off stat gain.

+1 to OP, and to the FEP highlight

I think what he means by "Pop up" is not what you are thinking of, but something akin to the red message that appears when someone logs on or off, or when you are to tired etc. I'm sure you have enough concentration to deal with that AND the great task of left clicking twicejordancoles wrote:Messages popping up would just piss me off imo, "Oh god gotta switch out my pickaxe for a sword because I'm under attack!" *Shift-Click it off for the first time instead of clicking it on and off* BAM.
