how to find someone

i have traveled a lot, find some abandoned houses, but never another player, one time i found a "territory of other player" but i could get there, the game didnt let me, so you cant find other people on this game?
i just have to die and hope to spawn near a village?

You can find people very easily, but a lot of times they'll try to kill you. In my humble opinion, it's best to live alone or join a village that posted in the dwarves and thieves section of the forums.

The world is 25k x 25k tiles or 625 million tiles in size. Divide this up by an average of 400 people online at once, and you can see how much land you have to travel, on average, to run into someone else. If you figure in a portion of those "online players" will never leave the confines of the village (farmer or mining only), the odds get even larger. Also, some areas just have larger concentrations of players than others, so this further decreases the odds of actually running into people.

I had a rare exception today. I met a player in a bear cape. Do you know what happened? WE LEFT EACH OTHER THE @#$% ALONE! Isn't that great? I think they were a Korean player, too.

I've been playing for 2 days now and haven't found any one, I came across a few dozen different settlements out of witch half of them seem to be abandoned (got some good seeds from one such village without a claim). I also found literally hundreds of hearth fires not one was indicating an on line player.

How to find if there is anyone in the general area, for the purposes of trade for example?
