How do I know if the server is offline? I cant connect now

Its been 30 minutes since I got disconnected and Im trying to connect to the server, without success.

So I wonder if we have a way to know the status of the server.

Just click on the homepage. There server status is there.

Although I dont know what the current server time is now. It seems like its been almost an hour since it crashed.

Does these crashes happen offen? Ive experienced 2 of those so far.

semi-frequently. And the odds that it will be fixed in early morning seem low statistically speaking. If it goes down over night, it stays down until they can fix it.

Usually it will have a major crash a few times after an update, Other than that it's fairly stable.

It would be neat if the website (which can correctly identify the server being down) could talk with the server (or itself, if it's hosted on the same machine) and automatically reset things after a crash.

The devs don't do that, because they want to fix the problems that lead to the crash first, before they restart it.
Otherwise the server could crash every five minutes, data could be lost, bugfixing would be more difficult, and nobody is helped.
