(Not a Bug)Bear Running While Enraged

Post by Kubius »

Title says it all. Spooked a bear into running while it's enraged.
Damonkaninchen: rest in peace. Betrayed and attacked.

Normal behavior. If you do too much damage too fast, it runs. Animals seem to be smart enough to know when they're losing.

while it may be normal for animals to run, a bear is special. when the bear enrages think of it as "gone mad" it will continue to attack no matter how much damage is dealt to it. ive played for a long time, and bears dont normally run off at that point, unless its an AI bug

It doesn't matter if they're enraged. They run anyways.

Someone remind me please, what is the exact trigger point for them to start running? Iirc it is a single attack that does damage exceeding x?

damage over time if I recall right, though I suppose one single hit of a high value would do it even if you've only been hitting it for 30 damage every 20 s or so. I've never attempted to even try to measure the threshold. it's not like you can aggro the bear, heal it up, run off the aggro, and do it again... (easily, that is; gotta have deer nearby, and then the AI just gets wonky.)
