I am just about to finish "Blood of Elves". (A. Sapkowski)
Just holy f... Usually fantasy books have obvious good vs evil plot... This doesn't. The author managed to create a world consumed by hatred spiral and cruelty (racial conflict between humans and the others)
So I just thought, do you know any good adventure/fantasy books with such problems? The tougher the better .
Prince of nothing trilogy by R. Scott Bakker the nature of free will, faith, loyalty belief, cause and effect, does the end justify the means, is manipulating nations and getting hundred of thousands dead in the process worth it if may or may not save the world. Best fantasy books if you want to think though I'll warn you there are no likeable characters none.
A song of ice and fire by George R.R. Martin has less moral problems but it does blurr good vs evil axis to the point where there is no such thing there's just people that either want power, to survive to be left alone and very very few to do the right thing.
Long Price quartet by Daniel Abraham no good or evil just good intentions and people that do the best they can in the situations they are in and sometimes it leads to very very bad results.
First law trilogy and connected books by Joe Abercrombie a typical cast of characters a veteran fighter, a young airy nobleman, a feral female warrior, a crippled torturer and a mage, a typical quest to find the artifact that will save the world, a typical bad guy or is it?
"Since all men count themselves righteous, and since
no righteous man raises his hand against the innocent,
a man need only strike another to make him evil."
