Second crop growth speed criteria?

Post by Draekrio »

For a rather long time now I've been noticing something while trying to manage my farm crops in my little hermit corner, every single crop cycle there seems to be this set point where crops take significantly longer, sometimes more than 24 hours extra, to grow. The entire patch is within beehive radius as seen by the ender highlight, and searching for answers myself have turned up blank, does anyone have any idea what the cause of this is so I can rectify it?

as you can see, after a cerain southen cutoff point there's a drastic gap in growth progress, but i planted both these patches all at once.

I might be missing something, but I'm not seeing what relates to my question/problem in that post. It was still a useful read for general farming though.

Just because crops are in a bee hive radius does not mean they will all grow at the same speed. Like anything affected by ticks it has a chance to grow. Bee hives do make the growing faster than not having them but they are still affected by ticks. So if you get unlucky you wait longer.

To offer up what Xcom talked about toward the end of his Haven universe thread.
There are invisible "sever grids" that are roughly 9 tiles by 9 tiles on the ground.
a Bee hive only effects the grid it is in and the 8 grids around it. for a 3x3 server grid square.
So regardless of whether or not the beehive appears to cover the area it's influence will not cross to sever grid lines.
View attachment. beehive is placed right next to a sever grid line the 9 tiles to the west and south of beehive are cover the the rest in the blue area are outside the 3x3 sever grid area and the sever does not recognize that it is inside the hive radius.

you can move your farm about 4 tiles north or build a second hive to the south to cover those crops.

This actually clears it up perfectly, i'll move my farm and see what difference it makes!
