[suggestion] Hidding stuff in the ground
The point of this is to hide any item 0.5-1 m under the ground with shovel. This does not leave any marks, or leaves any but they decay in time. Any person if to dig in the same teil can receive hidden stuff

I'd be fine with this. It'd be a pretty cool mechanic.

I like this idea. Even the ability for hidden cache's would be nice. Hollow a tree stump or hidden compartments...

I think this would make alt storing less desirable too!
To add on to this idea, when you dig, it should drop soil, like when you mine something.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Yeah, I'm all for this, it adds the fun of looking for hidden loot though I suspect it would only be used early world, once we have walls it sort of becomes moot.

I'm not sure about that though tbh, I would rather have my treasures 100% safe on an alt than buried in the ground somewhere. It is still a fun idea though.overtyped wrote:I think this would make alt storing less desirable too!

Having realistic alternatives to current workarounds is the first step towards fixing them. Workarounds, such as alt vaults, are there because we have a need for something and no system in place to really fill that need. So sure, you probably will still use alt vaults for things, and they may never go away entirely, but it'll be really immersive to get hit by raiders and go to your secret stash two grids down to get your spare goods. Heck, it'd be fun just to leave treasure maps around with instructions on where to dig for a stash, in the hopes that an explorer or newbie one day will have some grand adventure at very little cost to you. Mind that last one is less gameplay and more RP, but hey, RP things are nice things too. =)
