leave the area ... go for a long walk and go forage stuff ... if you went far away enough he will have despawned

long being about 15-20 minutes under the old server code. Make it a good 30 or more to be safe. This is the amount of time it takes the server to register that part of the map as empty and unload it from memory. Of course, there's no guarantee that a bear won't be there when you come back, but hey, such is life in the hearthlands.

have an ant hill inside and outside of my fenced in area and a bear floating around :< logged out untill further notice :<<
