This is a rather minor, but nonetheless very anoying bug.
Quite simply, the chat will constantly become selected, causing any hotkeys you use to be simply written into the chat instead. I have tested this quite a bit and found that this happens when you close a window, like your inventory, a container or the stats window. However only if that window is the one you last clicked within. For exemple, if I open my inventory, move an item and then close it, the chat will be selected. This also happens even if I only click the edges of the window or an open slot.
I would asume there is a variable holding the window you last selected, that always defaults to the chat. It should therefore be very easy to fix by just setting the default to something else.

Re: Automatically selecting chat
Select system, there is no input possible so no chance of losing focus. I haven't noticed the issue you're describing though, what client are you using? Have you tried the vanilla client to see if it does it there?

Re: Automatically selecting chat
This seems to be default behavior. I've noticed it myself, but couldn't pin it down to what is causing it as I've only had issues with it shortly after logging in.

Noticed the opposite with ender client. Chat kept losing focus and triggering actions instead.

Re: Automatically selecting chat
Forgot to mention that I have tried this with both vanilla and ender client, and it happens with both. I have been setting it to system to somewhat avoid this issue, but that has its own problems.Kelody wrote:Select system, there is no input possible so no chance of losing focus. Rings a bell. Will look at this.

More like ctrl+s (say in local).
Jorb, are there hotkeys to reach village and party chat?

Re: Automatically selecting chat
You can step through the chat list by alt+arrow up or down, and mousewheel in it by holding down shift.

Re: Automatically selecting chat
So - when chat dosn't have focus - to say something in village we have to ctrl+s, (once) alt+down.jorb wrote:You can step through the chat list by alt+arrow up or down, and mousewheel in it by holding down shift.
After Clickfest for moving now finger-knotting for talking...
Can we please have dedicated combinations for the most used?
Like ctrl+shift+s = village and ctrl+alt+s = party, or ctrl+v/p (since they seem to be unused) ?
