Where do hearthlings come from?
Where? They just appear asti wisps and then spawn on the world? Iso there any lore behind it?

I'm not sure that I have a strong argument against sketch colors - Jorb, November 2019

The lore is that after passing through the shallow the spirit collects clay around itself to form a golem.
This is what a hearthling is.

Well, worms are just dirt that have coalesced into a living form, so this makes sense to me.azrid wrote:The lore is that after passing through the shallow the spirit collects clay around itself to form a golem.

"There is light, and you find yourself surrounded by a vast and dark forest, with a path ahead of you stretching far off into some distant greenery. All around you, the land draws heavy breaths of wind, carrying with it scents of pine, and earth, and age. You feel light, almost floating, and yet strangely also heavier than you have ever felt before. Centuries are everywhere around, and within you."

Re: Where do hearthlings come from?
the game HEAVILY implies that hearthlings were dead before. they have lost memories. and seek to regain them. even that quote in the opening post references this. "heavier than you ever felt before" what before would there be to compare to if you had just been born right then and there?
i can only assume that hearthlings either have come back from the grave, or are recycled souls or perhaps an algamation of souls from multiple sources. after all, we can hear the voices of trees and stumps and rocks now.
and lets not forget that this game is far from finished, these quests have only been recently introduced, and jorb and loftar have constantly stated that they have a million ideas yet to impliment. the lore we see now has to be incomplete.

Newbie and noob do not mean the same thing.
Neither do figuratively and literally.
