Ant hill dungeon - key bug

Post by kimjungskill »

Was doing an ant hill dungeon yesterday with a friend and noticed that no matter what key I got to drop that should've worked (ex: killed ant in room i was trying to unlock) I could not use them to unlock doors. When I dropped them for my friend he was able to unlock the door every time. Seems unintentional.

Some things maybe worth noting:
  • We were in a party in which I'm fairly certain he was the leader. Party permissions were likely not toggled on (this really shouldn't matter anyway in a dungeon and off claim).
  • It did not matter who killed the ant that dropped the key. The outcome remained the same as stated above.

How exactly did you try to unlock doors? One have to "hold" key in cursor and then rmb-click doors with it, iirc

Oh that's probably it then. I wasn't aware that was the way to do it as everything else in the game key-wise just needs it to be in your inventory. Quite unintuitive but I guess now I know. Thanks!

Are dungeon keys consumed on use? That would justify making the player jump through additional hoop to make sure they really want to spend the key if there are two possible doors to open and you can only use key once.

Yeah they are consumed on use if I remember correctly. I don't think using the key from the cursor still solves any issue. If you have the correct key in your inventory then you could still right click the door to unlock, then right click the door again to open the door (which would be the same as the mechanic works now, just without using it floating in your cursor). Idk how many ant dungeons I've come across this world that were partially finished. Knowing this now, it's likely due to the user not knowing how to open the locked door via key on cursor.
