As someone who recommends a lot of people to play, who usually don't end up sticking around, I would say I've spent a combined total of 200 blocks, 100 clay, 100 boards, and 100 stones on these people. And because I build them outside my walls, I have to cart all the mats out into the given-up-player-hearthfire-pit. Without wheelbarrows, that's about 4-6 trips running, and with it's 2 at a slower pace.
What's the justification why these aren't a little easier to build? It's not hard by any means, but players usually jump in the fire between the time it takes for them to create a character and for me to get the beacon ready, then they get frustrated they gotta start again with a new name.
Reminder that you used to enter a Hearth secret and spawn right next to the owner's hearthfire in Legacy. Is it botters we're worried about?

Re: Wilderness Beacon: Not expensive, but a little tedious
Alts being spammed for various nefarious reasons has required a cost of some kind.
Why don't you make the beacons near where the resources are and then have them move their hearthfire inside if it's an issue? Might be a bit numb to it, but 100 boards is only 10 logs. That doesn't seem crazy for the number of people you've spawned.

If you're spawning a lot of people, why not let each person build a beacon for the next player?

If you're building your wilderness beacons in the "proper" place where the fire should be staying, you're actually a fool. 5 branches and a dream vs all the mats.
Spawning in mass groups is tedious as hell and an annoyance but tbh if it was free to spawn alts I'd have a few dozen suicide lumberjacks and crabmen.

Only need but a couple. When one dies, you just recyc... err inherit.Southpaw wrote:Spawning in mass groups is tedious as hell and an annoyance but tbh if it was free to spawn alts I'd have a few dozen suicide lumberjacks and crabmen.

8 hours cooldown on inheritance. It took me 12 alts to clear a forested 100x100 area.MagicManICT wrote:Only need but a couple. People have already said it's because of alt spam. Most notably, to grief others by moving your hearthfire outside their claim and filling the area with the hearthfires of your alts.FrankMcFuzz wrote:Reminder that you used to enter a Hearth secret and spawn right next to the owner's hearthfire in Legacy. I don't see the harm in giving us a permanent wilderness beacon as long as it could only be built by a claim owner on their own claim. That would solve the alt grief issue. It would make spawning alts for your own use easier, but bots already exist for that anyway. My first time playing this game I spawned at a publicly-posted hearthsecret. I miss having the ability to do that easily.

Is that really a thing? I never had a name taken, even Jorb.FrankMcFuzz wrote:they gotta start again with a new name
And even if it is they can just spawn with some random name and rename themselves in the kin window before kinning people.

Good point. Guess it does depend on how industrious you are and how much of a hurry you are in to clear some land. I always forget about how much impact the 8 hour cooldown can have.Zampfeo wrote:8 hours cooldown on inheritance. Crab roe's drop rate is a bit low. Went through a lot of alts for fisher credos.
