How do soak damage works?

Like in topic. If something have 5 soak dmg, I can destroy it with stone axe if I have 6 strenght, yes?Or maybe if I have pickaxe and 6 strenght?

The damage you deal is square root of your strength, axe adds 1, pick adds 2, ram adds 20. So, if you're using a pick trying to destroy something with 5 soak, you need to do at least 6 damage total, or 4 from your strength alone. 4^2 = 16, so you'd need at least 16 strength.
