Improving Archery (New bows, Crossbows, Quivers and Arrows)

Post by Mabit »

Hey guys.
Sorry to put a lot of ideas on one thread. I've read the rules but all the ideas are on the same topic (Improving Archery duh), so i think it would be fit to put them all here.

Ok, let's start this:

On Arrows:
We need a wider variety of arrows, not just Bone or Stone.
Arrows could be like fishing poles, we craft the main body and add things to it.
Just imagine the possibilities. One person just started the game, he would make simple arrows just made of wood. As he progress he could start adding stone or bone heads. Then he finds some chickens, and all his arrows now have feather fletchings. But he is now a fearsome warrior, defending his land with metal-headed arrows.

On Quivers:
I think more advanced players could have 100 arrow quivers made of hardened leather.
Other idea is not mine but I'll add here, we could attach quivers to belts.
And smaller quivers could be made of barks or blocks of wood.

On new bows:
New bows made for various purposes. Composite bows made of boards and bone glue and Compound bows made of strings and metal, of course the latter needing basic mechanics.

On Crossbows:
Crossbows wouldn't need to be separate weapons, one could make just the stock and attach any bow to it. The bow then could become single-handed.

Well, those are the ideas I support for having a more realistic and fun Archery.
Please tell me what you think

Metal arrows have been talked about a lot not sure if they've been sugggested.

I'd love to see metal tipped arrows with a nice big boost to attack, perhaps also being able to add feathers to the shaft if modular arrows are the idea...
Quivers would be very nice, if they can go on your belt, perhaps only smaller ones, and make a nice big one for your back. 40 arrows in a quiver isn't that bad though at the moment unless you're making a bunch of hq arrows.

Crossbows would be cool, but do they fit in? I'm no history buff.

Bows that are more varied would be nice, but we also need more swords that are varied, and perhaps a UA boost.

i think this has all been discussed before with the exception of a larger quiver made of hardened leather

@Sabinati
Yes, at least the Belt Attachable Quiver and some details about crossbows have already been posted.
But I thought it would be fit to include them among other ideas into a single archery thread.

@DatOneGuy
Well, according to wikipedia crossbows were used since 500 BC so I don't see why they wouldn't be historicaly fit.
And of course they would require basic mechanics to be made.

There's tons of archery threads, you might as well link to the others in that case or post this in one of 'em :)

Realy?

Sorry, I searched some of my topics and didn't find a thread similar to mine so I thought of creating one.

I made one about archery it's still on the first/second page, as did burg.

There are several others prior to those as well.

Thanks for the warning.

Sorry if that came across the wrong way, the topic is lovely, I just thought you meant that you were looking for somewhere to put it, found nowhere, and so decided to make a thread.

Yeah the customizable arrows would be sweet, I haven't heard that one yet :o
