Oh dear. No more ":D"s please.
Bratsk was a village if guys who played for fun and worshiped a great oak. It was a nice change of pace in a serious game, but they were plagued by raiders and the oak got chopped. Now it's a ruin )))))
Oh, and most people on this forum aren't as nice as me, so probs shouldn't be as annoying in the future.

Sorry, I don't mean to be. I guess it's just in my nature. And I didn't mean that in a mean or obnoxious tone, but I guess you can't tell over the internet.
Oh and I don't post in most threads so idk how I can be annoying in them but whatever.

You will be able to get more understandable info if you ask directly on the Russian forum, many of the villagers were Slavic.

This is about a village formed around an oak, which gradually became a philosophy and an unifying belief among villagers coming from different countries and playstyles. It was based on the principles of cooperation and diplomacy. Villagers developed those concepts in different directions, and at the moment every former oakling interprets that as they see fit. Some like the idea of belonging to that group while not adhering to any of its principles; some deny or don't declare being part of it while still defending it's ideals; and some have openly turned those principles into something else.

It was an idea, and it gave meaning to a game where mindless trolling, griefing, and pvp'ing are seen as the rule, so the interest it draws is understandable. The village was abandoned early on, raided successive times, and the latest news is that Siri made a memorial at the root of the oak in honor of the old times.

Also, JSN, you're not that annoying.

The way of the oak teaches us that in the Hearthlands you may choose to be the oak or the axe. The oak is reborn again and again and its seeds are spread throughout the land to start a new forest elsewhere. The way of the b12 is weak and consumes itself in the fire of its own greed. Without an oak to cut down, the axe is nothing. Like an unrequited lover, the axe spends its days in restless angst in search of an oak, but the oak is indifferent to the axe. Such is the truth of life.

No Brotherhood of the Oak thread should go without this poem by my favorite HnH player. Bratsk was such an experience for me, I wish we could've lasted much longer.
