As long as you don't settle literally next to the major faction, you can settle anywhere.

The last 2 places I tried to be a hermit, neighbors wanted to kill me for no good reason but to assert authority or something. This time I'm trying to live farther away from people and it's nearly impossible. Also as a hermit I don't WANT to live near people. Literally every landmass I've found is less than 2 minutes away from somebody else. This is just lame AF even if you're not a hermit. Check my suggestion thread for other reasons

It's a alt, but yea, in 1 month I grew my lonely hermitage from leantos to a solid settlement. I've had some neibourghs, but hey, most of them are not scary, solid percentage are dead aswell. Even the bigger ones are not necessarily maniacs slaughtering everyone. Hint: just talk with them.

Of course if you want absolutely desolate lands you probably won't find those, but hey, it is a MMO game and you are supposed to interact with others (yes, even as a hermit).

It feels so aswell. Even though learning ability is 100%, for some reason I feel like 1 month and I am almost at endgame, used to be slower in the old Haven, despite playing more.

Yeah, haven't really felt the need to log in once I capped my stats, just ran out of things to do. Started working on an alt, but pretty much got bored of that.

Also feels much easier due to gilding system, making it possible to double most stats you previously could not.

Like you needed 300 farming before to deal with quality crops, now the crops being sold at ~q100 or something, so you need 50, add 50 from gear and voila.

Carpentry follows the similar pattern. And so on.
