Re: Prelude: Happy New World!
Anyway, I'm glad caps are back, even if they are a bit high for my taste. But that got me thinking about realms - what if they determined the caps? Something like you can go up to 600 normally, but with realm you can go up to 999. The authority drain for raising this cap should scale exponentially, ofc. It'd be in line with the realm specialization ideas if cap raises were split per stat rather than bundled together. The idea is to make realm bonuses attractive enough that OP stuff like state funeral isn't needed to make people want a realm. Of course, a stat raise only on realm territory isn't all that great, so you should get the benefit of your home realm wherever you are when caps are concerned. Home realm should be determined by location of HF and take like 3 days to attune when you move your HF into a realm.

Could we have the ability to make something similar to strong boxes again? Maybe like put locks on cupboards or something similar?

Dragons pls, also certain monsters that can be spawned from localized resources, like a Jotunn (Nordic Giant) at a Hearthwood Trees. The stats of said creatures at the q of the resources you get would be determined by whatever you used to summon it. Say you use some magic thing of 40q to summon said monster, so the monsters resources are 40q.

Re: Prelude: Happy New World!
I can see that would be fun, but to be honest, there's quite a lot of work involved in such things, and it's not all that fun to do such work for a one-time thing that's never going to be used again. It feels much more productive and meaningful to do work that improves the game long-term. Maybe if we had a team of monkeys that could work on such things while we ourselves kept working on Real Stuff. ^^xTrainx wrote:every once in a while a new event is made that change the game somewhow. something akin to the christmas event we have.
for example: one day you get a quest "bees have mutated to 5 times it's size and are planning to take over the world" and beehives would spawn giant bees that give some new kind of limited loot
another quest "a Dryad have become sentient, built a dungeon and is preparing to destroy all humans" and a new chaterstone is made that transport you to a dev generated dungeon or fort of sort, fighting foxes, boars and maybe even bears, and at the end, a dryad enemy who gives some kind of nice loot, and in the fotress there's a limited number of armor maybe that grant some sort of special bonus
or maybe "a new mutation of the red deer have made some of them albinos, hunter's beware" and make it so some deers have a chance to be white, giving a new of hide and maybe horns
There are strongboxes.LostJustice wrote:Could we have the ability to make something similar to strong boxes again? Maybe like put locks on cupboards or something similar?
Perhaps when mammoths aren't being sploited regularly. :)MrPunchers wrote:Dragons

And yeah, triple quality seems kinda pointless when you don't really have much control over their growth. Maybe if there were some realm policies for influencing q of specific crops/livestock :3

will make walled catapult siege camps impossible and catapults more vulnerable as they would have to be set in the open.loftar wrote:What would this accomplish?Chebermech wrote:increase the distance of outside built personal claims between the village claims to more than 5, maybe 30 or 50?
another problem with sieges similar to multiple village claims is with multiple personal claims surrounded by a walled village claim with hollow/unclaimed centre (not overlapping personal claims) not sure how easily but could it perhaps be solved by having all personal claims in this situation (surrounded by a village claim) also share it's shield values as if it was covered/overlapped? or have personal claim shield values a lot lower than they are right now.

That altar was rigged, we were destroying it then you and jorb went and ruined the funloftar wrote:So you do think that a reset for "non-development reasons" (not that there aren't developmental reasons for this reset) may be a good thing, it just can't be a good thing when it's we who do it?Kaios wrote:And no I'm all for longer worlds not shorter ones with a mechanic involved to allow the players to choose when to end it rather than only at the devs whim to erase months of work for no good reason
To be honest, having tried the altar idea, I'm actually less sure now that a player-controlled reset mechanic would be a good thing than I was prior to it. It seems to me that, as soon as there's a "risk" that the world may be ending soon, that will cause the vast majority of players to stop playing because of the uncertainty of the future, and even if the threat were more easily averted than in the previous incarnation, I'm not so sure that would be well-liked nonetheless.
You are quite free to suggest countermeasures.infectedking wrote:lets go 8 village idols and unsiegable, gogogogo

Make the wall soak to drop to 0 a day before the reset, like it did last world end, I want to explore all the unexplored bases I have always wanted to see

Re: Prelude: Happy New World!
I'm glad to see the triple qualities go they were one the few negative changes made to the game, only making it harder to raise and control crops/animals.
Stat caps at 999? Buahahaha, a year into the world how many chars have reached that lvl? 10? 20? Basically irrelevant.
I have to say I'm very dissatisfied about the reset. I've spent 5 to 10 hours playing for the past month to "catch up" and develop my base to a point where it would be satisfactory... and now it all goes down the drain. No reason for it. The world isn't broken, theres still a lot of room to grow. People winning about wanting a reset will start doing that again a month into the world after having fallen behind in some way. You don't start grinding in the first few days of the new world, run into a ganker, hunting gone wrong, troll attack, dis has better bots... "I want a new world this one is unfair, that faction has everything better than we do".... you'll start reading that kind of posts before January is out.
World 9 has been very satisfactory for me and I bought several monthly subscription because of that. Now seeing how all that I've created is going to be wiped for now reason other that "let's start over". I think this post will mark the end of my involvement in Haven & Hearth.
