They do need to fix the botting and enhance the new player experience as well as improve the default client before going anywhere near steam imo.

The botting due to negative jealous rage reviews. The new player experience to milk positive reviews from people who will onlypplay the game for a week. The default client for obvious reasons.

If they can get enough positive reviews early post steam release the game will stay afloat and survive long enough to attract its target audience who would otherwise likely never encounter the game or be turned away by negative reviews from players who aren't the target audience.

I think. But. I'm no marketing pro.

Steam is changing their greenlight stuff now so you have to pay to get in soon.

I'd bet the video is so unedited that it's made from 2005 that's it's the ramblings of a person who has no idea of how to critique a video game. Mate, get over yourself. if you don't like the game, go play a different one.

This game so far is pretty interesting for me as it makes want to explore further... until I get beat up by a boar and I tried punching it back. It didn't work. I got beaten up and now have a black eye. (Please send Mud Ointment or a medic to heal me.) My only compliant of the game in my opinion is that I have to get wiki to know what I'm doing or read the forum. Though with my profession that something I already do when I look for coding assistance.

He's not completely wrong though. Lots of people have already pointed out that new players have a hard time understanding how to play the game or even figuring out its most basic concepts. What's obvious to us isn't always so to noobs.

The worst of it all, and this has been pointed out too, is that going through several parts of the forum is necessary to learn how to play, to understand the community's culture, and to know that murder is common and expected. We know it's like this. But when you make a presentation video portraying the game as a peaceful paradise people will think it's indeed like that, especially if it gives the impression you don't need any claims or walls to play. Maybe this guy came here expecting the game to be like the video and the official description and found out it's not. If that's the case, is he really to blame?

I may be remembering it wrong, but I think that we had Projared's video on the game here at some point and he made a decent job explaining how strangers can be total cunts and how important walls are, going as far as having a designated gate keeper.
