Looking into it, actually. I/O has been surprisingly swamped since the reset, so I'm looking into getting an SSD-equipped server.
If I/O is the issue behind lag, ssd will surely bring a large improvement.
Using HDD for game server in 2019 is a bit old fashined!
There are some nice SSD-equipped servers in Finland!

Right. Existing infected sores will have healed with this. You are welcome.

They do, for about twice the price.

Significant (1day or more) cooldown between wind events

Unless I just missed it, Hetzner didn't use to offer servers with both SSD and HDD, and I do need the storage space. Now they do offer servers with both, however. Additionally, I/O hasn't really been a huge problem until now, so given that I needed the space, adding an SSD didn't really start crossing my mind until relatively recently.

Additionally, I can't help but wonder if the block cache shouldn't be enough, quite simply. I do wonder if it isn't almost to be classified as a bug in the storage stack that it isn't.
