Village claim and then wall is likely one of the reasons why village authority was mentioned earlier which doesn't appear to be getting a fix so could just do that. Maybe you are right and they shouldn't be walled in the first place but then alts can get to them more easily so that's another issue to be dealt with. I don't know, inability to break a wall without the devs intervening and putting in hand bashing seems to be a siege related issue to me.Granger wrote:Siege IMHO has nothing to do with breaking walls around resouces that shouldn't be walled in the first place.

Re: Development Headsup: Unclaimed Walls Bashable
I wouldn't consider this a bandaid, instead restoring previous functionality, in w10 it was easy to break unclaimed or inactive claimed palisades because of low dry times on catapults/rams unlike now where there is a 24 charge time, I would disagree that this is a rare circumstance that someone walls in a local resource or walls in a realm cairn and I'd rather not have a siege system than have a working one at all because it would be extremely detrimental to the casuals that you are at one moment crying out to protect and then in the other bringing up that siege isn't good enough like it wouldn't negatively impact them the most if it was made any better.Kaios wrote:So is this whole thread though or are you saying it's not just a bandaid for a poor siege system?Kirche wrote:because your anecdote is irrelevant, why should mechanics function around extremely rare circumstances

Re: Development Headsup: Unclaimed Walls Bashable
dude without any further expansion on the proposed implementation in this thread, being able to bash unclaimed walls effectively changes very little and is very much putting a bandaid on a small scrape. I don't really care if the local resources can be walled or not, most of them aren't even necessary and are not worth fighting over either way. Rock crystals and Ice Spires might be the only resources worth a damn, underground has plenty of guano/notes/smoke that you don't have to bother trying to wall those. Salt was nerfed in to uselessness, pit clay doesn't spawn nearly fast enough to be as useful as cave clay, headwaters who the fuck cares about those, honestly I don't think there's a single resource I care to go for unless it is a necessity for meaningful progression like the rock crystal being required for deeper mineholes and for charter stones.Kirche wrote: I wouldn't consider this a bandaid, instead restoring previous functionality, in w10 it was easy to break unclaimed or inactive claimed palisades because of low dry times on catapults/rams unlike now where there is a 24 charge time, I would disagree that this is a rare circumstance that someone walls in a local resource or walls in a realm cairn and I'd rather not have a siege system than have a working one at all because it would be extremely detrimental to the casuals that you are at one moment crying out to protect and then in the other bringing up that siege isn't good enough like it wouldn't negatively impact them the most if it was made any better.

All rock crystals and ice spires are already walled for this exact reason. In the games current state it is pretty much impossible to get one without trading. It may be a band-aid to a bullet wound but it's a lot better than nothing at all.Kaios wrote:Rock crystals and Ice Spires might be the only resources worth a damn ... honestly I don't think there's a single resource I care to go for unless it is a necessity for meaningful progression like the rock crystal being required for deeper mineholes and for charter stones.

Fair enough but I wouldn't assume that means you're gonna get any just because they become unwalled. If someone really wants to keep them they will build a village for them.Omnipotent wrote: All rock crystals and ice spires are already walled for this exact reason. This may be a silly thing to bring up, but now's the time. Due to logs not decaying inside of claims, I have resorted to building an unclaimed palisade so that logs can turn into quality mirkwood. If we are pushing for unclaimed walls to be easier to destroy, can we also push for an alternative to making mirkwood, without it being easily stolen?

We probably won't get a fix for the siege system anytime soon, so why not just accept the bandaid for now?Kaios wrote:So is this whole thread though or are you saying it's not just a bandaid for a poor siege system?Kirche wrote:because your anecdote is irrelevant, why should mechanics function around extremely rare circumstances
I do think siege engines and wrecking balls need a much faster drying time, though.

Is this really a fix though if this change isn't changing how much soak palisades will have? It's still going to be a massive pain in the dick to remove an unclaimed palisade unless I'm missing something.

At this point, if you REALLY want to wall off your resource, you're going to drop brick walls around it just to say "Piss off!"
