That's assuming there is a world reset in a month. And even if there were, that's quite a different thing from what OP is asking for; this thread is not mainly discussing the difference between two and four weeks, at least that's not the impression I'm getting.

But could it be that some people do not bother to start playing because they think that all their efforts may go in waste, if you suddenly announce the reset in a few weeks time? Especially this late into the world.
I think that there are plenty of people who would like to play but don't want to because they fear that reset may be soon. If there was a confirmation, some of them may try, if there was enough time for reset (like months).

I don't know if you somehow track also how many new accounts that start playing instead of just the total player count. Like how many new accounts start playing after the world is 6 months old?

You don't have much to lose with trying it for one world at least.

Most games that do some form of world, league, ladder resets announce a good month in advance, and you normally do too

So wouldn't it be safe to announce "reset is definitely not going to be within the next month"
or "reset is probably going to be within the next month?"

That way the 1000s of people waiting have effectively been communicated with

and the 70 people still playing know they are safe for atleast another month (or not)

See, I suspect this (the fact that you want a reset) is the reason you're arguing for it, less than because you think it's a good idea in the general case. In which case it is off-topic for the thread.

I think if you spent some time listening to the playerbase outside of patch days you would find that your militant and memey lack of communication about future development, roadmaps and bigger plans has become one of the most tiresome things about this game for veteran players

I'm on loftar's side here.

There's no good answer here with how haven works. With a reset date set, you have nothing to work towards because that's not the type of game haven is. Not announcing the reset until relatively late means some people keep playing in ignorance past the world's "prime", but is unsatisfying to people. Well ahead of time announcements completely murders the population the moment a peep is made about it which means no one's playing at all.

Only way to change that would be a rather fundamental shift of how haven works to give "endgame" a reason to be played.

Not to say that we're in any way perfect, but for the most part, what you call "lack of communication" is simply reflective of how we develop. Communicating future development and roadmaps would imply that we have a formal plan to communicate. We do have loose ideas, of course, but I do think we tend to communicate them, about as loose as they are.

I agree with the rest of the stuff you said but I think that people that are still playing know that the current world is dead and they'd keep playing even if a world reset was announced. Anyway, it would be really nice to get a reset, feels like it's the perfect time and looking at how many people are asking for it daily on the unofficial discord it just seems like the right thing to do, obviously if you guys feel like that from the development side of things.
