You guys forgot to mention you locked steel past the heavy earth only levels, because only the sweatiest mouth-breathers could be bothered to make steel gear with that trash.

Re: Prelude: World 15
One common use for siege equipment, among the notably less powerful, is to get into clearly abandoned claims before the palisade completely decays. Purpose: scavenging things that would be junk to high level characters, but invaluable to relative newbs. Sometimes you can even get pre-tamed animals that way, though they'll be frightful quality due to starvation.
I'm kind of sorry to see this possibility effectively removed, except perhaps in provinces where no one much is left active. (I'm presuming that anyone with a claim they value in the province is likely to defend its thingwall, at least from the kind of low level character who finds this kind of scavenging valuable.)
Of course there will still be some scavenging, but everything will be farther decayed before the first natural hole in the palisade.
Any thoughts about preserving scavenging? I.e. I'd really like to still be able to apply siege equipment in locations with only drained-away claims.
Ditto when the claim in question is one's own, for those of us prone to locking themselves out of their claim. (No, I don't know how people manage to do that, but I've had neighbours do this to themselves.)

I would assume the Wrecking Ball is excluded from the Thing Peace requirement? Good thing for the devs to verify, but it would be silly if you had to break the Thing Peace to overhaul your own palisade. (Also not 100% sure if Wrecking Ball works on inactive claims, I never tried that.)xyzzy57 wrote:One common use for siege equipment, among the notably less powerful, is to get into clearly abandoned claims before the palisade completely decays. Watching videos like this serves as an archive, and when you revisit them after ten years, they gain even more depth.Austinh15 wrote:https://youtu.be/zSbfn7WRN2Y?si=Qh85ohUroXNhzbs_ Oppidia W14 Tour and Memories. That said, I personally found casually crafting/organizing my village a lot more fun when I had stacks of 20-40 cupboards on a tile. Adding tabs to containers/inventories would be a better road to follow than the whole stacks thing you guys are doing from an interface perspective, especially since it could also add game-play by making it a resource intensive end game persuit.
+ it's nice to walk around your village and feel invested seeing all the expensive things you've collected.
also i cant wait to steal big boi containers from people that sketch it
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.

Re: Prelude: World 15
This is a good point. Problem is that abandoned base can have all the valuables decay before walls break down to allow free entry. For some reason even an inactive claim makes walls immune to hand-bashing. Not that it would make too much difference anyway since people who would get most value out of scavenging probably have no Strenght/tools to hand-bash palisade. Obvious solution of lowering the Palisade Soak to something like 10 has significant balancing concerns - factionbois can get STR fast enough that even during a fresh start, base would only be fully secure when a proper encompassing wall has completed drying.xyzzy57 wrote:One common use for siege equipment, among the notably less powerful, is to get into clearly abandoned claims before the palisade completely decays. Currently, you need to use a Wrecking Ball to break into inactive claims. It can no longer be used as siege weapon as it requires permission or lack of (an effective) claim. I was going to suggest removing the drying time, but I guess it's still relevant to help prevent really cheap inside jobs in more loose communal villages like Brodgar/Whatever. Although this could be alternatively solved by making more proper permissions system and not trying to categorize every action into 4 categories. (Demolishing a wall and farming are both Vandalism actions! You have to allow/disallow them both, no pick and choose!)

Can we please remove the cooldown when switching between meele and ranged weapons? I do get the cd is to stop some silly weapon swaps, but it makes ranged weapons a proper meme, especially for MC chars
