With no ability to play legacy on Steam account I think Steam accounts should be verified by default. And then only pay for the sub.
I'd say giving free verification to new steam players would be a gesture of good will. Plus the sub + verification model is too convoluted for the mainstream platform such as Steam

Nice chat gpt, regardless this is complete nonsense, and VAC does not work, multiboxing and botting countermeasures will never work, it's an infinite losing treadmill.Den4X wrote:Very excited about the new experiment and I think the idea of a separate steam server looks great! I expect that it will attract new people, and will also make life more difficult for multiboxers who own bots. It will allow all players to play in equal conditions and reduce the chances of meeting serial killers overfed by bots for whom the goal of the game has always been to destroy the world as quickly as possible and whine about the fact that the server is empty after a month. I hope that among other things will be included VAC to reduce the number of cheaters who will try to interfere with the code of the game to gain an advantage by automations. So far the only downside is the loss of hats, otherwise expectations are positive.

I don't think it will completely solve the problem, however if it makes multiboxing more difficult it will definitely reduce the number of bot owners, as at some point the effort involved will outweigh the fun of bots. For those who want to play the old way there will always be a regular, non steam server available, but it's hard to say if normal players will play there.

make S1 tick run faster, and reduce durations of everything, so whining hat collectors understand it's a new enterprise, with new risks, etc

You can't expect the players who got basically fucked over in so many ways by what they devs just announced to be positive about it. I'm sure if the devs actually address all the issues (custom clients/acc sharing/alts/paying twice/hats/dividing the game into two servers and forcing ppl to play on steam for the new world we waited so long for) the steam release will go a lot better than what we could expect right now.roskuwacz wrote: Are we?

If devs make multiboxing more difficult, the gap between competitive players using multiple Steam accounts, various devices, and different IP addresses and regular players will only widen.Den4X wrote:Why do you think I'm a chatgpt?jpjpjpppjp wrote:Nice chat gpt, regardless this is complete nonsense, and VAC does not work, multiboxing and botting countermeasures will never work, it's an infinite losing treadmill.Den4X wrote:Very excited about the new experiment and I think the idea of a separate steam server looks great! While the number of bot owners may decrease, they will never completely disappear. As a result, a small number of bot owners will become even stronger compared to other players than they are now.

Re: Game Development: Haven & Hearth on Steam
To me it doesn't really makes sense that the steam worlds would be wiped more frequently compared to the orginal servers. Steam will attract more casual players that would need more time to do stuff and would be probably better if they could take breaks and comeback to maybe still find their stuff. Meanwhile the hardcore playerbase is already here on forums, I assume we don't really get many brand new players here. So the slower more peacful servers wouldn't be populated by people who just wanna play casualy. They wouldn't be really populated honestly. It's gonna be legacy v2, just a waste of a server but without any unique gameplay features. Also I don't think the game is ready for 3-4month cycle. This is gonna lead to a lot of burnouts and while I think that skipping worlds is not the end of the world or anyhting, I'm not sure if the playerbase can support all of this. Also I would focus on some kind of tutorials and intro to the game featuers if we are expecting influx of new players.

Idk who is the "you guys" you speak of tbh, my ass can't post shit without being lumped in with other groups that only exist in your guys imaginations. Or do you perhaps disagree with what I said and you think the steam release should go out just as it is right now?Audiosmurf wrote: You guys act like petulant faggots 24/7 no matter what, so why do you think anyone is gonna listen to you?
Edit: I'd like to point out I've made some pretty damn constructive posts in this very thread (not all of them obviously) that point out the issues I personally (and I think a lot of others) have with it.
