Nope, that was something people said about the legacy system. I'm not 100% convinced it was true back then either. But I didn't start testing fishing until salem rolled around.

Each hook creates a new set of combos because it's part of the unique combo. Some can be better than what's listed, but it's all 100% RNG. I decided against doing the extra testing after testing a couple species. I found that most had a combo with bone hook that was more than worthwhile considering how much easier bonehooks are to make vs chitin or metal.

Yeah, I considered it to not be needed. There's more testing to be done if that's your thing, or if there's a specific fish you really want to mass produce.

As i noticed, things are not that "easy". Equipment changes left numbers too (which probably known).

Just fished for Eel, and for fun, tried to use Woodfish with Woodsman Line. And it worked... Kinda better?

To compare i searched in same tile without actually catching fish:

Woodsman Fishline+Woodfish = 37%x92%=34%
Woodsman Fishline+Rock Lobster = 33%x100%=33%
Woodsman Fishline+Pinecone Fly 31%x99%=30%

So somehow, Wood+Wood worked far better for me than any of other combinations, but not in the way i expected. Of course effect is kinda minimal, but i noticed effect late. Until then, change was more significant.

Far as my data shows it's just chosen randomly likely by RNG algorhythm. The left number is (Lure + Hook + Line) + node density, a lot goes into it. All of the combos I give are "best 100% catch rate combos". There are some fish with things like extra visbility but only 60% catch chance that I omit for simplicity.
