Approximately 66% of accounts that logged in over the first month have not logged in during the past week, reflecting a 3 week turnover rate of about two thirds.
A lot of that can probably be attributed to people playing initially and not becoming invested. Some of it is veteran burnout. In any case, steam seems to continue to keep the daily concurrent max quite steady. Presumably enough new players are filtering in that those who are exiting are being replaced.
I'm not sure what, if any, takeaway there is to be had by this data. My gut feeling based on this data plus steam reviews and other anecdotal evidence is probably that spruce genocide is a contributing factor to the turnover, as people rarely cite gameplay concerns (other than perhaps light tutorial) when giving negative feedback on the game, but often cite negative player interactions.
If I had to think of the lowest hanging fruit to address this, I'd probably simply suggest that there should be an ingame tutorial that guides a player along a path where completion is given contingent on having a fully claimed palisade with only visitor gate entrances.

I mean... he does this is true, so do many people in WB but that is not relevant to whether the game is dying... also its a month in and we still regularly get 1300+ gamers.SonYoung wrote:take whatever this guy says with grain of salt, he is open about supporting pedophile currently live in WBRobben_DuMarsch wrote:We are approaching the end of the first month.

So the game is very much not dying rn and it feels like steam was a good call in spite of people saying the opposite.

it kinda died for me, i was busy and had no time for palisade, when i had time my stuff got stolen. good i can come back. Then i got beat up stuff stolen, good ican come back, then that person killed me stole more stuff. now he camps my claim comes back every day steals stuff, breaks stuff and will murder me again. Why bother every direction i can walk is full of claims. i would need days of walking around without getting murdered to find a decent spot while leaving everything behind. if i atleast could use the thingwall to travel father away, but nope you lose them when you die and the shrine costs wax.

The problem here is not relocating after the first instance of theft, much less getting beaten up and cleared out however many more times. Your first camp has to be well hidden, ideally in a cave. Pack your shit in a cart and leave, if you're new and recently burgled it's not like you'll have much worthwhile to bring anyway. It may mean spending a day walking in one direction. If you are finding claims everywhere, you need to keep walking until you don't. Large swathes of the world are unclaimed, and many of the claims are inactive.Antaraner wrote:it kinda died for me, i was busy and had no time for palisade, when i had time my stuff got stolen. good i can come back. It's like getting your laptop lifted out of your unlocked car and then replacing laptop in same exact spot, car unlocked. You gotta assume anything that isn't elaborately hidden or secured will be stolen, especially if it has been stolen from that area before.

I hope you won’t take this the wrong way, but players getting killed is a kind of natural selection in the game world (myself included).

Keep in mind that many people are using multiple accounts at the start. For example every person in my village used 4-5 accounts during the first 6-8 hours for mapping. For the next 2-3 days I kept using 4 accounts for blocking, claim protection etc. Right now I barely use 2 accounts.Robben_DuMarsch wrote:We are approaching the end of the first month.

Re: Is the game dying already due to group/faction murder ho
everything is very simple
killing a noob or griefing his house made of twigs and the punishment for these actions are not commensurate.
a noob in 90% of cases does not even understand what is happening, and does not know that it is possible to inherit your base, a noob does not see traces of murder or vandalism, this is because the noob himself is completely defenseless.
The murders of noobs never stop!
it just becomes difficult to meet them, with an online of 100 people, to which this game always rolls in 2-3 months.
the punishment for killing a player should be commensurate in trauma with the loss of a character! only then will it stop.
how on the ships that transported slaves they hanged the entire crew, indiscriminately
for example, having committed a murder
lose your heart fire forever,
cannot have a claim, or be a member of a village, kingdom
cannot have heirs in case of death
in addition to passive search for smells, make another active spell "crime scene examination"
which shows all traces within a radius of 50 meters, so that if you know where you can always find traces.

A lot of great ideas mate, make sure to post them in C&I. Surely all these mechanics are solid and not exploitableSpacePig wrote:everything is very simple

10 pages of people pissing & shidding & seething. And here I am, just enjoying the game as it is, killing noobs if needed, inheriting if needed as well, not giving a fuck. Game didn't die during W7 lag and rubberbanding fiesta and will not die for a long time. Just the retards will get filtered.
Feeling purely shitpost sock account, might delete later.

Good point, one buddy I played with in Foxhole joined H&H as it released in steam, he described this game as "Not the one where you are main character", which for me is pretty accurate.Milarepa wrote:10 pages of people pissing & shidding & seething.
