So ever since I can remember I been watching the forums and in one form or another people constantly asking about some way to not have pvp enabled.
How about making the main spawning continent pve only. Maybe you can do this with a NPC realm that one of it's buffs is the fact you cannot enable or use criminal acts on this continent. And it would only affect this continent.
I think that this will have some set falls with this. especially the fact of people just doing ass hat stuff with alts. But honestly, if you have your P-claim up first. . .
I think this could be a step in giving most to mainly all the people what they want. 1 continent for PVE only and all the others as H&H is usually.
My only downside I see here really is A. the ass hats who make alts just to fuck with people on the main continent who have yet to have a P-claim/village claim up and B. the pvp'rs only having them selves to fight or most likely them having thier villages on the edges of the continent and them doing day trips out in pvp land to find some pvp. But there is would be consensual as if you don't wanna pvp, then do not leave the continent.
You could also make the out lying continents more appealing by only allowing mammoths and high Quality animals spawn out there and all Quality nodes in pvp land start at a higher Quality to begin with.

Yea, let people harrass you without you being able to do anything about it. Great idea. Let them steal your stuff and kill you animals and break your house, what you gonna do? Nothin ofcourse, it's pve area.

Re: one continent pve only
Thought: Why not try it for a world? (a no pvp zone that is) Like, I think it'll go horrible too. But that's fine, let it be horrible. See if people like it or not after the full pve experience. Not like factions really siege each other anyway, so possibilities of abuse are meaningless.
Just so I can point to a concrete experiment when people bring this up and say "We tried and X happened". Like we did for flat stat caps (we haven't tried rolling stat caps to be fair).

It would be interesting to see. I thought having more frequent world wipes purpose was to be able to try different things??Sevenless wrote:Thought: Why not try it for a world? I've been sayin that for a long time, let's just try it, let ppl get their teeth kicked in by naked alts and constant griefing and then we can point to it. I mean idc, i won't be there. But if ppl want it so much i think it's good to let them have it so they can see what they're asking for.

Re: one continent pve only
This happens only if you do not have a P claim up first. Because as soon as you get a P claim up how are they going to do this? Since criminal acts are not allowed? It will be kind of like the first part of a new world, where no one has criminal acts or an established village yet.most of the people wrote:Yea, let people harass you without you being able to do anything about it. Can this be adressed whenever pve is suggested at least?
From loftar:
From loftar:
loftar wrote:Do I really have to spell it out for you? My point is this: What do you do on a non-PvP server when someone:
Starts building a village idol to claim the land around you;
Takes ten alts to block the exit of your palisade gate;
Builds a palisade around your claim;
Plants a tight forest all around you, or conversely, cuts down all the trees around you;
Simply stands in your way;
Runs away with the carcass of the animal you just killed; or
Just decides to settle down next to you while you don't like him?
These, and many other conceivable actions, are far easier ways to grief people than is PvP, and PvP is the only thing that keeps them somewhat in check. Therefore, removing PvP results not in less griefing, but in more.
In case it's not obvious, I'm not denying that some people just want to live in peace, and I don't think it would be a bad thing if they could do that. But removing PvP does not result in that.

Re: one continent pve only
then lets address it.TheServant wrote:Can this be adressed whenever pve is suggested at least?
Well first off, there are current actions already in place. via revoke the privilege that the Village has to be at least 90% as old as the P claim and the size of the p claim determines the amount of village authority it will cost in order to revoke the claim.TheServant wrote: Starts building a village idol to claim the land around you;
how are they blocking anything if they cannot get on your P claim or village claim? If you didn't have a P claim up first, then it's still public land. this also goes for stealing, breaking stuff etc etc etc.TheServant wrote:Takes ten alts to block the exit of your palisade gate;
can't build a Palisade through another's P claim. If you didn't set up a P claim first well again it's public land.TheServant wrote: Builds a palisade around your claim;
They can't do anything on your claim. Otherwise, log in and cut down the trees. Also Deforestation Is rather hard now and the game has new trees sprouting up all the time. But I don't know about you, But when I deforest an area for my claim/village. I keep everything in order to have stock for when I begin Tree Quality. Again this is usually cleared up wit ha P claim or Village claimTheServant wrote: Plants a tight forest all around you, or conversely, cuts down all the trees around you; Simply stands in your way;
I would see this as the price you pay for living on the PVE continent.TheServant wrote: Runs away with the carcass of the animal you just killed; or Just decides to settle down next to you while you don't like him?
I feel that 90% of these actions will be negated with a P or Village Claim.TheServant wrote:These, and many other conceivable actions, are far easier ways to grief people than is PvP, and PvP is the only thing that keeps them somewhat in check. As others have stated in this thread. Lets give it a shot, We will not know the results until we try. And from my expereince in other MMO's I have a feeling the numbers will rise as almost all games that have a Pve and PVP areas show this.TheServant wrote:In case it's not obvious, I'm not denying that some people just want to live in peace, and I don't think it would be a bad thing if they could do that.
