That would be a valid point, if that would be the case.
Which it isn't.

Just to make that clear: My client does not touch local map cache or functionality in any way.
What I did:
- I changed a comparison within the minimap code which sometimes prevented the minimap from being clickable.
- I added a try catch around the part, where the map export tried to access a seemingly corrupt local map cache storage.
- I added a different way to draw the minimap, which is totally optional and does not interfere with storing / loading the map cache.

I suspect that these issues will vanish if the map get's exported, map cache get's deleted and map get's imported again.
Problem for him is: It looks like his map-cache is actually broken in a weird way.
See: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=80018
This is base vanilla code, where I added the prior mentioned try catch fix to skip NPE on broken segments.

I think it's a really unlucky chain of event's which lead to the corruption of the mapcache.
The mapfile (Meta data) is stored for each character per world.
But the segment's can have different ids. That's why you can import a map that is basically not connected with yours even though both are overworld maps.
It's possible that one of the merges failed, which is tied to a segment found on ender, which now can't be loaded correctly.

Yea, The idea that any custom client would be making any 'saved' changes to the 'officially' cached files make not real sense.
It could potentially break all other clients on the user side that use it. (Potential instant user complains avalanche)

I think its might be related how the Ender client deals with the potential different map related versions.
Although I currently have no hard data on that. (working on rebuilding some related tool, which I broke some time ago in a major editing mishap - but forgot I did.)

Map versions: Currently I have 2 different map versions in my cached files. 4 and 5(most).

What strike me as suspicions is that I also have:
- ~300 clipped map-files. -- These are map files that 'do' have there initial res-meta data, but are missing the actual terrain data. (these are returned as version "0", or those closing zero's are just 'no more data' indicators.)
- And that the modified/creation time of most of these files fall inside the same time period/range.

Makes me think Ender might be doing some weird stuff related to map-files (map-version related?) and choking on it.

viewtopic.php?f=47&t=80018 feels like the Vanilla dev's might have removed some clipped/zero-version check on map related res-files, for whatever unknown reason.

I am currently playing on world 16.1. Had a character on world 16. Did some alchemy there and saved few recipes. I am no longer playing there, and only play on 16.1 and started doing alchemy again. However the client cannot save any combos that I made in alchemy window and does not allow me to delete any old recipes. It also does not allow me to create new recipes and save them. Do you know what could be an issue here? Furthermore, after deleting recipes in window and restarting client, recipes show up again.

I had a crash which kicked me out of the game and now whenever I try to log back in I can't and get the following error message:

I updated Java earlier in the day.

Always give the default vanilla client a try too when odd stuff happens in a custom client. It might (sometimes) fix it. + if vanilla client also gives errors you know its a vanilla client issue.

The distance to the quest giver is no longer visible. The tracker on the minimap is also gone.
