People would probably be more willing to pull the trigger on them if it wasn't a choice between a total crapshoot and tunneling through patchnotes to see what the hat looks like.
You're right.
Also jorb can you please unban my 14 year account that your shit mod Vatas hammered down? As if I can't just make alts and complain endlessly about it. Thanks.

Reverted this change. I imagine it had some merits but we'll walk it back for now.
  • All hunger reductions, including those from Questing and Salt, are affected by the distance-to-server lead modifier.
Added this clarification.

I think this would have merit if it changed as a function of world age, along with minimum distance between pclaims. For example: For the first 96RL hours of a world, pclaims become active instantly, but the minimum distance between claims is massive (500 tiles?). After the first four days of the world's existence, pclaims require 2 hours before becoming active, and the minimum distance between claims is reduced from massive to very large, etc.. After maybe two weeks of incremental changes every 96 hours, they work the way they currently do: 8RL hours to become active and a 5-tile minimum buffer between claims. That would allow players to get established quickly in a new world, prevent grief destruction of claims in the initial dash for interesting real estate, and prevent grief claims from boxing in prior claims in order to prevent their expansion. I also think that the LP cost of initial claims should be higher when the world is young in order to disincentivize dropping multiple pclaims in order to reserve the option to build in many areas before committing to one of them.
